Usman on colby's takedown, Next opponent, Khazmat

Even if you credit Colby with that takedown, the fact remains he went 1/11 in takedown attempts against Usman which is pretty abysmal.
Not to mention Usman dropped him on his head like he was a toddler. Did he grab the fence? Yes. Does it matter? Naw. Even Fedor and Aldo have pulled that veteran trick.

Khamzat could do what Jones did and just take the title with no set up. It's ridiculous that the other fighters are turning him down so we have to wait for his inevitable championship fight. Edwards and Luque ? You have to be kidding me if we're going to have to wait for those 2 to get Usman vs Khamzat. Iron is hot so let it go!
Goddamn you're riding him hard!

They made way too big of a deal out of it. It amounted to nothing.

Doesn’t matter if it amounted to nothing, it was still a takedown on a guy who had never been taken down in the UFC before. Colby was robbed once again. He lost the fight, yes. But he did get that takedown.

Again, I never said it wasn’t a takedown. Just that it shouldn’t drive the narrative for as long as it did.

Its a big deal in the wrestling fraternity. Game within a game between two great wrestlers.

Agree. None of this shit *really* matters, but since it was cited as a major accomplishment by Usman it’s understandable that they discussed it.

Depends. He also hit Usman with a lot of shots that Usman probably should have avoided. Difficult to say whether the takedown attempts made that possible.

I was rooting for Colby, so know that it's not like I'm biased in my response here.

By wrestling rules, that was a takedown. By most (if not all) submission grappling rulesets it was not. It makes a lot more sense for MMA to use submission grappling rules for what constitutes a takedown.

This is the same when it comes to knockdowns. A guy crouching and touching the canvas with one hand is already called a knockdown in Boxing. It would never be the case with kickboxing, and MMA is more kickboxing than boxing so it should not be called a knockdown.
