I'll admit that I never really rooted for him, as I'm a huge GSP fanboy and was always threatened by Usman'a chance at topping his legacy.

That said - Usman was a great champion. He was an active champion and looked so dominant the past several years until he met Leon again. After GSP, I think he's the clear #2 WW of all time.

I can't really see where he goes from here if he wants to continue fighting. Would he just go back in the mix and fight Belal or Burns again? Hard to picture.

Either way - respect to Usman for doing what he did as champ the past several years. Hope we get more Champs that are as active as he was.

he was p4p #1 for a bit

not many can achieve that.

Brilliant champion. Hoping he can work his way to another title shot down the line.

I never really liked usman as well but you cant disregard his hof accomplishments.

i dont think hes done. even though he lost by ko last fight it seemed like he didnt really feel like he lost (based on his own words) as he just thought it was a fluke shot. this time it was no fluke.

look for him to get humble, refocus and get back in with a top contender by july.

Usman is awesome. He’s up there in years and isn’t quite what he was at his best. Leon prepared really well and got it done.

I thought he got a bit cringey towards the end of his reign, but I agree. He was very active as champ, never ducked anyone, and he really tried to continually round out his game.

Personally, I hope he moves up to MW, but whatever happens next for him, he’s a definitely a HOFer.

Glad you acknowledged the way a lot of sensitive GSP fans felt on this forum. A lot of the Usman hate was that alone.

I never understand why fans feel "threatened" by the greats of the younger generation

Was rooting against him tonight but I have to give props where its due.

He is a hell of a fighter and he was a great champion. He gave me one of my favourite KOs ever when he starched Masvidal.

He’s also one of the biggest cringelord tryhards in the UFC and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing him get humbled for the second time in a row

*Looks at results of last two fights*

Usman - He was never that good.
