Using a sliding scale, Do you think Rumble is more of a 'Brawler' or a 'Technical Striker' ?

Which one?

It's close but I think he's a brawler. He goes for it and doesn't do a lot of backing up. The guy is a warrior even if he's a smart one. Brawler first, technician second but he has both in him.

Thats called high volume

New option added lol

Not sure how can anyone do that "Technical brawling" tho.... It goes against the definition of a brawl

Well, then you know nothing. It's not by coincidence that Rumble has barely ever been hit clean in the stand up in his entire career. His kicks are fast and powerful, some of the best if not the best at LHW. He gets a bit wild when he has someone hurt but he's not nearly as wild when out in open space as people make out. Also, his wrestling and take down defense in particular are above average. Much more than a one punch wonder.

Really, 'technical brawler' would be a good description.

Well said. Agreed.

Right and I associate high volume with brawling... like I said it's a close call but when you look at a guy like Cruz and then you look at a guy like Wand, I think Rumble lands closer to Wand.

I just don't understand how can anyone think he's a brawler, while no one at LHW landed a reactive takedown on him.

If he was a brawler, he would leave big openings for a power double or single leg, surely? Even DC used his chain wrestling

Not to mention he rarely gets hit on the feet. A brawler tends to get caught with a clean strike on the chin, against an above average counter striker

Well when he hurts a guy he doesn't sit back and set shit up and let the KO come, he just goes for the kill. Most the time it works out for him. But against a guy like D.C. you see how his ability to stick to technique over brawling becomes blurred. Keeping his hips back and throwing single shots or a feint to set up a power kill strike goes out the window when he smells blood.

Yeah, by definition a technical brawler doesn't exist dumbass, thats why technical striker and brawler are separate options...

Rumble's best weapon is his 1 punch, I didn't say he had no other skills, but he really isn't that well rounded

I don't agree with that. You can be a tazmanian devil while throwing technically textbook strikes.

I consider a technical striker to be more of a thinker. A guy like Mayweather that knows when to use footwork, when to be agressive, when to take a round off, how to fight while moving backwards etc.

Ever see Rumble fight going backwards? Didn't think so.

He's as technical as they come. I chose technical brawler because his sharp striking techniques are usually applied with brawling at mind

Mike Tyson, on the other hand, would be a technical brawler

Technical brawler would have been my answer too.

He has great Kickboxing skills and a ton of aggression/power which makes him a technical brawler.

He has lot more method to his game than people think. Never really seen Rumble just straight up brawl with someone his shots are almost always well set up.

Vitor hit him semi clean and got him spooked

A Technical Brawler who sometimes slips into being just a brawler.

imma go w technical brawler but lean towards the technical. i think he gets labeled brawler by some in part because of the ridiculous amount of power he has. but ko power and willingness to use it does not mean brawler!
