If the UFC continues to use USADA long-term, how will future fans view pre-USADA fighters?
With their assumption (right or wrong) that fighters are clean, will future fans view our current and past favorites as cheats and place an asterisk on the whole generation?
The next generation of Sherdoggers will mop the floor with us if we don't prepare now.

Funny thing about pre USADA...

Remember that old thread about the UFC poster curse with Brock, Machida, Silva, GSP and BJ?

Turns out that motherfucker was cursed.

old fans will understand. memory will be preserved. newer fans will shit on all the old stuff as they've always done.

It's a major part of all of sports history. No sport has been clean.

The athletes have just played by different rules in the past.

It might kill the sport. It's not as exciting to see average dudes who all gas and slow down in all their fights, aren't as strong and eventually get tired. We have to hope that juice science advances to out-maneuver the testing, so we still get to pretend they are just "genetic freaks".

That's what I'm hoping for and expecting to happen. New PEDs and new ways to avoid getting caught. Otherwise I'm afraid of a bore fest also.

Hopefully they part ways.

They can't part ways. What will they say, "We brought USADA in to find PED users. They have been doing such a thorough and excellent job that we are displeased with them, so we're getting rid of them."

Maybe MMA is just paving the way for other sports. I don't think the Jack Dempseys, Sam Langfords, and Harry Grebs were using PEDs and they were awesome.

But future fans will be right to put an asterisk on 1993 to 2015 MMA.

When future fighters can't reach the heights of fighters of old, the conclusion will be clear. Especially since, get ready for it, there is documented proof over and over and over again that fighters of this era used PEDs.

My big issue right now is the UFC is the only major sports org in the United States to be using USADA. The penalties are ridiculous. You have superstar fighters on 1st offense PED violation facing 2-4 year bans. The NFL in a million years never would have put themselves in a spot where a Peyton Manning could be sitting out for 2-4 years. Too much money to be made, and the owners would never risk losing their stars for that long. You have athletes in all major sports being tested but NOT by USADA. I am not of the opinion now this is good for the sport, as I don't see PED use ever fully going away and major stars will be told their careers are basically over. Losing major stars is not good for any sport, and this has been a losing deal for the UFC thus far.

They should have realized leagues like the NFL, MLB and NBA don't deal with USADA for a reason. Having your major stars kicked out for 2-4 years is not good for business..

Congress should mandate USADA style testing for all major sports.
