I'm shocked that there hasn't been a thread made on this the past few days at least.
Hopefully I missed it or used the wrong search terms. Mods: Please merge if I have.

I have admittedly only been following this at a very cursory level; following the statistics like number of victims and the sentencing. Recently I've seen some courtroom clips and read a few of the articles about the dramatic courtroom statements. I think I must have been operating on a rage deficiency, numbed by the daily atrocities we read about.

This morning I read this on FB and I was in tears.

Its a long read, but it this survivor's victim impact statement puts things in perspective like nothing you'll ever read.

I know a lot of people want to ignore the #metoo stuff, but there has been a bunch of men using their positions of power to sexual assault women. False claims really hurt real claims. Hopefully more awareness will encourage women not to allow them selves to be taken advantage of.

Maybe save putting the onus of prevention on the victims for a thread that isn't about child molestation.

More than 150 women delivered statements at Nassar’s sentencing hearing, detailing years of abuse that began for some when they were as young as six years old.

No punishment is harsh enough for this scumbag. I hope he suffers immensely for his crimes against humanity.

There was a thread back when Aly Raisman and McKayla Maroney helped brake the story.

I thought this was already old news. Did something new come of it?

How in the fuck did he get away with this for so long is what I can’t comprehend

Yes, Nassar was sentenced to prison this week. 175 years.

Good read. Disgusting that this went on for so long.

And back I need 1997, when the first complaints were being ignored? If they had be taken seriously how many little girls could have been saved from the sexual assaults? Awareness is a good thing and people being encouraged to speak out is a good thing.

When women come forward regarding being sexually abused in the past many posters immediate response is "witch hunt, they should have brought it up back then".

Then you have something like this. Massive amounts of child abuse that victimized some of country's most famous girls. Multiple complaints made to coaches, university officials, and the police during the abuse. Fuck all done by those in power to address it.

When even the most successful and famous girls in the country have their multiple complaints about being abused dismissed by those in authority it's pretty easy to see why one normal woman wouldn't haven taken the risk of filing their own complaint in the past.

You should really read the OP, its powerful stuff.
He got away with it the same way all these evil fucks do, teamwork.
These crimes have been reported to the school, law enforcement, team mates, coaches.... they all conspired to keep it buried and shamed any victims who came forward. Its incredibly disturbing.

Not only that, but the mind of a child; Rachael Denhollander talks about how she figured this must be normal and that if it wasn't surely somebody else would have prevented this from happening.

They should all go to prison for life, imo. No tolerance.

Absolutely disgusting that this went on for so long....

One has to wonder, just how fu*king cold, evil (I rarely use this term) a man has to be do this without any sort of compunction for so long.

didn't this guy have sisters, daughters, nieces, family of his own?

absolutely horrific. Hopefully he gets his just desserts in prison.

I dont understand how could anyone think that fingering is a legit medical maneuver.

I hope people from MSU and US Gymnastics are convicted of crimes for this as well.
Rachael's statement talks about how important it is to sentence Nassar to the full extent of the law in order to send a message, but I think that falls short of what is really needed: They need to go after the people who cover this up.:eek::eek::eek:s gonna :eek::eek::eek:, accomplices need to know there is no hiding from their complicity.

This is what is so much more infuriating....the cover up...the collusion...

what was most disturbing about the catholic church scandal weren't the actual crimes of rape, and molestation...but the cover up...the knowledge of it.
