I'm so disappointed in Uriah. Was a big fan during the show.
He did some great things into the octagon, some great reversals, great ground defense, some takedowns.

But what was he thinking overall?!
He was trying to impersonate Anderson Silva and was thinking about show before win!

I hate what he did, his back against the fence with low hands, or his low hands all during the fight.
If he had taken this fight seriously, like the Andrews' one, with a game plan based on what the opponent would do, he would have won. We saw that on the ground he was not less good, in wrestling he was not that bad, and he was definitely better on foot.

But he did a bad fight, he was casual, like it's no big deal that fight. Not smart.

Gastelum deserved to win because he took it seriously.

Is it a coaching problem?
Apparently he said his trainers have not been as good as Sonnen to coach him, and now that he is back with his camp, we saw IMO a totally different Uriah. He needs to find somebody that changes his approach.

You mean by his opponent or the event?

The event, maybe, I think he was not 100%. A reason more to fight a serious fight and not start showboating.
His opponent, not really, or just because he didn't do what he was supposed to do.

Overall, I think it's more Uriah who lost than Gastelum who won.
Kelvin was serious, did what he had to do. He deserved the win in that fight.
And I hope it will open Uriah's eyes because if he keeps fighting like that, he won't go well.

I honestly believe that Uriah is a headcase that is going to need the same type of positive reinforcement that Chael provided throughout TUF house. There was just something about Chaels speeches and motivation tactics that Uriah really bought into.

Yes, he maybe needs to go see elsewhere.
You can't have just a good fighting coach.
He needs more. His fighting abilities are amazing, his potential is even more amazing.
But he needs more.

This is classic problem when friends fight. I think he might have held back.

That's a possibility.
Which would confirm that he needs somebody to say the good things to him.
Maybe a move to Team Quest? BUt Chael is a fighter, not a coach (at least, not now)

please, after a mcgregor mania, i dont want now a hall mania...

He got beat by a guy who stepped up and brought a better fight to the cage tonight. That's about it. Hall has lots of talent. I'm just not impressed yet. Spinning kicks and shit are pretty, but you still have to win in the big show before you've done anything.

By the way: PINEDA, winner sub of the night. Well done, Pit. Texas MMA. Big up 4 oz and Legacy FC. Pay attention to Pineda.

This. He looked totally nervous and didn't fight at all like the Uriah Hall we saw in the house. He was a very skilled and aggresive fighter who simply outstruck all of his opponents, in the finale he didn't jab at all and only tryed to counterpunch.
I really think it would be great if Sonnen brings both Uriah and Kelvin into Team Quest, that would be great - especially for Uriah who seems to really need someone who can built up his mental stability.

Maybe kelvin was just better

Yeah they do say it's harder to kick someone in the face when that person isn't standing still looking at you with no defense.

It's amazing how much hype can be generated when someone crushes a line of cans in brutal fashion. Maybe it's the impressiveness of the violence. It leads people to believe the person has special powers. TUF really does bring out some special fans, I have to say.

He looked nervous. He kept putting his back against the fence which resulted in him getting taken down. He has athleticism, but needs a sports psychologist and to work on gameplans, being aggressive, and some grappling if he wants to be champion.

Did you at least looked at his fights?
Even against Kelvin.
The very few times he really fought, seriously, with intentions, he released the impression that he was better than Kelvin. He could have been able to hurt him on feet and keep him at good distance.
He hits hard, he's quick. On the ground, he is not a specialist but without panicking he annihilated Kelvin's possibilities
But that when he fights smart. Which he did for maybe 2-3 minutes against Kelvin

Yeah.
Actually, I said something like that in other threads about that fight, this would be a huge problem for them. But Kelvin went for it, he deserved.

Kelvin has a mind better made. Stronger mentally and he has been able to pass throught the friendship.
Uriah is not the strongest mentally.

There was a lot of hype and a lot of pressure on him. It was almost like a mixture of fighting safe at times while getting cocky at other times looking to do something spectacular when he saw an opening, but it never really came.

I think he was waiting for Kelvin to do something and counter him with a flashy thing.
He was too much looking for a highlight finish I think.
He said after his fight against Andrews that he knew Dylan wanted to take him down so he had to let go his countering style to attack first and keep him to distance.
What I don't understand is why he didn't do it against Kelvin.
As a wrestler with good submissions, there was no doubt he was looking for the ground.
