- Anthony Pettis vs Edson Barboza

- Fabricio Werdum vs Stipe Miocic

- Thomas Almedia vs Cody Garbradnt

- Rory McDonald vs Stephen Thompson

- Rafael dos Anjos vs Eddie Alvarez

- Nate Diaz vs Conor McGregor 2


Would you agree these up and coming fights have FOTY type potential? What other announced fights do you believe could be all out war FOTY type greats?
 
Rory vs Wonderboy is going to be nuts!!! Rory alone guarantees FOTY. Add the best striker in the game and you have a potential best fight in a long time.
 
Those are great picks, TS. I agree on all of those having FOTY potential.

I also thought Khabib vs Ferg had that same potential. If that matchup still happens I would have to include that one.
 
RoryMac Vs Wonderboy & Pettis Vs Barboza are my two favs of all the fight announce to date.

Nick Diaz return this year if they put him Vs Lawler should be insane
(even tho he don't deserve a title shot at all)

Also Lookin foward to Nelson Vs Lewis, Two Big/fat guy throwing bomb at each other make me happy.

(Is that fight officially announce btw?)
 
Good picks SF. I'm especially optimistic about Werdum vs. Miocic. The most interesting HW title fight in ages IMO.

These sound like barn burners to me:

Masvidal vs. Larkin
Overeem vs. Arlovski
Maia vs. Brown
Nelson vs. Tumenov
Saffeidine vs. Story

I think Silva vs. Hall is going to be a gunshy hesitation fest unfortunately.
 
you guys mentioned all good mens fights....But I think JJ vs Claudia 2 is gonna be a good one for the ladies
 
Fight of the year? I doubt it. But Im actually looking forward to Daley vs Koscheck 2 for a fun fight. RDA vs Eddie has a good shot to be FOTY bc RDA is a physical fighter who maintains a high work rate and Eddie is not only tough enough to take it but he hits hard enough to keep the possibility of a late fight KO alive until the final bell. I also think Henry Cejudo might show up against Mighty Mouse and really step up.

He's been in multiple FOTYs. Against Hansen, against Kawajiri, against Chandler. How should he have fought Pettis... given him space and time to set up his rhythm? That's how you get Showtimed

FOTY is a big aware, it's not just FOT week or month. I wouldn't count any of those as contenders. I'm not saying he shouldn't have been smart and fought Pettis the way he did... I'm just saying that's usually not what makes an interesting fight for a neutral fan. What we want to see if a Rory vs Robbie or Barboza vs Ferguson sorta scrap.

lol @ Barboza vs Ferguson being better than any of those three fights I mentioned. Admit it, you haven't seen them.

Now I know he's been fighting safer since he signed with UFC but to say that he "isn't FOTY material" when he's accomplished said feat multiple times already is ludicrous.

Honestly I don't remember if I've seen all of them. The likelihood is I've seen a couple at the time and forgotten them. I used to watch almost all the fights, but I could easily have not you're right.

Eddie has been in some legendary barn burners over the years but Edson vs T Ferg was a great fight in its own right. It didn't go without any accolades. And that was a busy month for MMA so it's saying something.
