Signings/Scouting Unsigned Heavyweights, v.4

Me this week:

I hear you man, this place erupted in boos. I thought Preston would have a better showing. He dropped Juan in the first, then completely gassed out trying to finish him. After that he was super sloppy and pretty much gave up. Hardy was doing well, but he got caught with a hard shot and never recovered.

Terrible effort from Hardy and Preston. Kind of gives you a feel for how much potential they have....IMO, none. Losing like that to what are essentially jobbers is a terrible sign. Hardy in particular I had hopes for, but not now. Scott Barrett will send him to 4-3 and then he's basically your typical regional circuit guy.

At least Ngannou did as expected and disposed of his opponent quickly. Surprised that Smolyakov lost to Henrique, thought he was going to score a quick finish.

Smolyakov looked awful. Maybe octagon jitters, but can't see him beating many guys in the ufc fighting like that.

Ngannou looked good again but Milhajovic was badly overmatched. Reminded me of sort of when Cain Velasquez fought Neil Wain when Cain was a prospect. Ngannou has gotta face someone with a few UFC fights now. Timothy Johnson or Anthony Hamilton would be good tests for him.

I think Struve would be a good next step. My mindset is that if he can stuff Blaydes takedowns, not many people in that division will be able to take him down. His striking needs a test though, he has the power, but a guy like Struve will test his technique. Struve's reach advantage, height, and kickboxing style will pose some problems if he doesn't have clean striking.

Definitely down with that fight. I heard Rama re-signed with WSoF US though, which knocks that option out for WSoF Global I guess. Dmitry Poberezhets would be a good opponent if Evgeny beats Odoms.

I would like to see N'Gannou fight Daniel Omielanczuk next. He's on a 3 fight streak, and is due for another prospect test again. He would also be a good stand up test like you mentioned. I think Struve needs a win streak at the moment. Maybe I just have a soft spot since he's one of the only top 15 UFC guys under 30.lol

That's the fight for me, too. Omielanczuk is on a much better run in the UFC really, both have won three in a row.

Yeah, dreadful weekend for the big lads.

I could see Grabowski/Hamilton going either way to be honest, but I'll pick Grabowski by submission, 2nd round round.
Erokhin will probably KO Odoms, Odoms is slow but if he can get Erokhin down, different story. He's fucking huge. And fucking old.

Wilder/Kovacs is a horrible fight for a big promotion to put on really.

Evgeny Erokhin 15-4 > Richard Odoms 11-3 1st rd Ko to retain his WSOF-GC Title

Arsen Abdulkerimov signed with WSOF.

Mostert is like the Chad Hanekom of the heavyweight division. Both had really good amateur careers, and I expect them both to go far.
