Signings/Scouting Unsigned Heavyweights, v.4

I don't know much about Junior or Ricardo, but I don't think Rodrigues Junior would go very far. He seems like a brawler with a 1 round gas tank, he has thunderous power though, as his fight with Ali Mohammad showed, but more skilled strikers should beat him.

I'm very curious about the brazilian guy in the Rizin tourney, he beat an undefeated brazilian HW prospect in his last fight. Got a pretty tough fight ahead of him though.

Hes a former Dos Santos main sparring partners, he is very good on his feet using his hands, he lacks ground game and he is already 33 with not many experience in mma but he's definitely a threat while standing, I'm looking for his fight on Rizin next week.

I've seen some footage from Prasel, Rodrigues and Junior, of all of them, I think Prasel its the most under experienced and not so good, he is still young and tall, i'm looking foward too! From these trio i think albini is better and as far as i know he is the younger one too.

I agree, but Albini would be better served fighting at 205lbs in a big promotion, for me anyway. Too lean, he'd get overpowered too easily.

I've been told he had to cut weight to make 265 on his last 3 fights although he looks very lean to me as well for a heavyweight

Matchups for Rizin's GP confirmed:

Mirko Cro Cop vs Hyun Man Myung
Karl Albrektsson vs Valentin Moldavsky
Teodoras Aukstuolis vs Szymon Bajor
Amir Aliakbari vs Joao Almeida
Jiri Prochazka vs Mark Tanios
Fujita vs Baruto

Got a few questions for anyone that knows anything about some of these guys: How skilled are Bajor, Almeida and Tanios? Can they win their fights or are they going to get beaten rather easily?

Joao isn't too bad, he got a bad draw with Aliakbari though, I think Aliakbari will do extremely well with his wrestling. Bajor isn't anything special. Tanios is tough and has cardio, but like Joao he got a bad first round opponent, Jiri is really good. I think all 3 will get eliminated in the first round.

Coyuple of decent fights in the GP, a few solid prospects.

Steve Mowry wins his pro debut, 1-0 now, via 3rd round submission of previously 3-0 Marino Eatman, so he wasn't fight a complete can at least. Encouraging start.

Looking forward to seeing Mowry fight more, he still has problems with wrestlers, but if he keeps subbing them from the bottom then I guess there's not an issue with giving up takedowns.

Olympic Gold Medalist Kyle Snyder announced he wants to fight in MMA. This could be the legitimate American Heavyweight prospect we've been waiting for. Or maybe he can cut to Light Heavyweight because he's a smaller Heavyweight.

Also, thanks for the Tapology love guys! We work hard to be the most up to date.

At 5'11 I think he's better off at LHW, but he could be a champion at either LHW or HW with enough training and proper development. The UFC needs to get him under contract yesterday.

Paul, what you think about the brazillian future in heavyweight? These guys like Ricardo Prasel, Fernando Rodrigues Jr, Junior Albini, do you think any of them could have a future in the UFC? Theres been quite a bit since any brazillian heavyweight signed up

Prasel is really inexperienced, he needs another 5-8 fights before he's big show ready. But he could be good with his size and strength. Rodrigues I thought would be the next big thing at HW from Brazil, but the more I watch of his fights, the more I'm convinced that won't be the case. Albini I'll be adding to my honorables list, he probably should be at LHW in an ideal world, but yeah, he's put on weight and is running at like 270+ pounds now, so I guess he's firmly in the heavyweight category. Albini is probably the best out of the three.

Arjan Bhullar def. Ryan Pokryfky via Unanimous Decision (50-45, 50-43, 50-44) as per MMASucka.com

]

also Arjan Bhullar is a level down from that, undefeated, facing an american with a 6-2 record, he's actually a large HW so could be worth keeping an eye on if he wins this BFL 45
Arjan won, a few 10-8 cards from every judge, 50-low 40s

Other fight is actually next weekend, i messed up

Dale sopi vs Matt kovacs x1 Hawaii

Sopi should KO him in about 10 seconds. I remember way back in the day, Kovacs was like a litmus test for up-and-comers and veterans not signed with a major promotion. Dude fought all comers and sometimes won, too. Nowadays though he's basically a bag of air with a pulse that needs a pay-cheque, not the same test he once was and anyone who loses to him will never make it to the big leagues IMO.

Mark Godbeer signs with UFC.

Didn't really expect this. A lot better guys out there but never gonna complain when UFC adds new blood to their HW division.

With all the stupidity Godbeer had to put up with in Bellator, I'm kind of glad he'll at least get a shot in the UFC. Mind you I can't see him breaking middle of the pack, but he's the only UK heavy that makes sense to sign. Aspinall needs more fights, and Chi Lewis Parry is focused on kickboxing.

I can see them putting him against Danho or Colombo on a UK card.

Easy tuneup for Rosholt.

Kind of weird with Rosholt and Jordan fighting, Ivanov won't have a high profile challenger. I thought they'd do Shawn Jordan first for Blagoi.
