Unpopular Opinion: Whataburger is Actual Trash

Born and raised Texan here. One thing Texans won't shut up about is how great Whataburger is.

I believed the hype myself for years. But then I just realized that Whataburger is straight up gross.

The bun is too big, always cold, and seems like it's some cheap flimsy ass bread.

The lettuce is always this chopped up bullshit that has not taste and always explodes out from the burger and spills everywhere.

The party is super thin and otherwise good.



Beyond the burger, everything about the place is trash. They are all run down and employee peoples whose hands are bleeding and shit.


And lastly, their marketing and interior design sucks.


I live in Austin: In N Out and P Terry's both got Whataburger beat all day.

i disagree that InO is better.

i recently went on vacation to California, and for some reason their InO is better than the texas one, but not better than whataburger imo. I also tried carl's jr. and again, it's better than their texas counterpart, but this one was also better than whataburger.

i had griffs burgers a while back, and i thought it was slightly better than whataburger.

Austin has some good spots. There's this place called Dans that actually serves up a bomb ass old school burger that makes you wanna Fuck a red head and learn to play guitar

No shit? I thought it was way more local. When I was a kid you had to walk through the butcher shop to get to the restaurant. You could even ask the butcher to grind a specific cut for you.

Just looked it up, it actually started in Texas.

Whataburger was dominant back in the 80's and 90's in my small Texas town, and still does well in rural areas, from what I've seen. You've got too many options there in Austin, so it suffers by comparison.

Fuddruckers is nice, especially with the options of different types of burgers, seasonal ones and such.
