A lot of people downplay Izzy run as champion for 4 years.

He is criticized for his recent loses and his run is downplayed for fighting "cans" - Gasetelum, Vetori, Costa, Romero, Cannonier or an overrated Whittaker.

A lot of this is downplayed due to izzy being cringe - he makes anime porn, he jerks off his dog, thinks he is asian, cries in public, overuses the N Word etc. and constantly attacks the maga cult within mma (pro LGBTQ +and BLM, mocks charlie kirks death, wants the epstein files released).

I get it the guy is not likeable, but his legacy is so underrated now.

He was a few minutes away from beating Poatan the first matchup. He proceeded to KO him in the rematch. He went toe to toe with alex and was very much his equal in both of those fights. He has had more success against Alex then anyone else in MMA. I think it shows how good Izzy really is, but people even downplay these performances using alex weight cutting as an excuse.

He is probably the most disrespected HOF/GOAT level fighter since Mighty Mouse.

Thin Jizzy is the the type of guy to say 6-7 and Skibadi as a comeback, while tuggin off a dog.

He is rated accurately.

I agree with you, and I think it's funny how Sherdog works

When the guy was a dominant and busy champ people on Sherdog said he's overrated, but now he's on the tail end of his career and has become a high level gatekeeper he's said to be underrated.

Izzy was a good champ. He fought frequently and only moved up to challenge for a second belt after defending his belt a few times, and not immediately challenge for a new belt like some of these new champs
 
Yeah, great fighter who is over the hill. These viewpoints usually fix themselves when the past his prime fighter retires and we can look back at what he was at his best instead of focusing on what he is in the now.
 
He's probably third all time at MW behind Poatan and Silva. As for you nerds shocked people put Khabib above him clearly must be blind fans as Khabib was the most dominant fighter ever in the UFC. His run was unprecedented in terms of pure dominance, Adesanya 29 fights and 5 loses with several close fights in those 24 wins. Explain why it's such an audacious take that Khabib would be higher rated by some?
 
Hes fallen off hard, but hes an ATG and at his best would have been a handful for any MW in history, including Anderson. Considering how things have gone since you really cant overstate how crazy it is that he knocked Poatan out.
 
People hate him so much that have straight up forgotten he was really good, regardless of his current state.

I don't think he has it in him any more to be fair and I rather he retires than he keeps on going and takes more damage.

I wouldn't put alex over him at MW. Alex never had a title defense. and in his lone defense izzy delivered one of the all time greatest knockouts.

Overall Alex is over izzy but not at mw.
 
Except Poatan and Rob wins, he had some of the weakest opponents for his title fights:
- old Romero, shit boring fight and actually it was pretty close
- Costa, who beat up some cans to get a TS and has lost a lot of fights since then
- Cannonier, who had his share of losses
- Gastelum, who could have been a better fighter, given his hand speed and his chin
- Vettori, who was just a decent (not good) wrestler with an amazing chin and shit boxing and shit cardio

When he fought an actual good boxer (Strickland) and DDP, you can see what happened.

And this in a MW division with no top wrestlers in that period.

They gave him old Silva as a present, Silva who hadn't won a fight in 7 years. And lost a round to Silva. Imagine what Prime Silva would have done to him.

He is not underrated.
 
Not very likeable and always cringey, but he's a great MW. Comfortably in top 3. Some have him as high as 2 behind Silva. I think he's rated appropriately.
