Unpopular opinion. Big Nog did NOT beat a seasoned Cro Cop. Cro Cop after 2005 beats him.

Cro Cop lost to Big Nog in 2003, which was 2 years into his mma career. Cro Cop was kickboxer first and went pro in kickboxing in 1996 and did not start MMA until 2001. When Cro cop fought in mma in 2001 and 2002 and 2003 he was still kickboxing professionally full time in 2001 and 2002.

Cro Cop fought Fedor in 2005 after he seem to devote himself to MMA only after he stopped pro kickboxing in 2003.

I do not think Big Nog beats 2005 Cro Cop or any version of Cro Cop after. I do not see how Nog gets him down and Cro Cop would not gas. Nog beat an elite kickboxer who was 2 years into his mma career and was part time mma fighter and part time kickboxer then doing both.

I agree. But Nog won and Nog has the much better MMA record and career. I prefer Cro Cop.

i have no opinion on your opinion. it certainly would have been fun to see in 2006 or so.

So, basically what you are asaying is once CroCop learned TDD, Big Nog wouldn't have been able to beat him.

It is possible.

But also possible that Cro Cop tires out and Nog still finishes him late.

Two of the best fighters ever. It really could go either way.

Eh, maybe. Would have been a hell of a fight. Honestly, in a sport where so many dream fights take place too late (Chuck and Wand, Arlovski and Mir, Randy and Nog), or not at all (Faber and Kid, Fedor and a whole lot of people), a fight between two all time greats that came a year or two too early isn't the worst thing in the world.

This isnt unpopular this is reality. Cro Cop, much like Ngannou, was rushed into a title fight. Fedor got injured and crocop fought Nog and succumbed to one of the best fighters one earth.

It wasnt cro cops best but it was still a damn good win for Nog.

2004 cro cop was the best version IMHO

04 Cro cop still had issues, namely defense and underestimating opponents. Compare his treatment of Randleman to Kanehara immediately afterwards, he just walks forward on Randleman and gets tagged, he took everyone deathly serious after thT. I guess its splitting hairs, Cro cop fought 6 times in 04 so splitting 04 cro cop between pre and post randleman is still 04.

It''s tough to call. 2006 Big Nog was still in top shape. I can't say for sure that he'd win, but if he had beaten Barnett in the semifinals, the rematch with Crocop would have been very intriguing.

Since we're time traveling here's a FUN FACT ! :

Fedor's most underrated win is over K-1 GOAT Sammy Schildt.

This was Fedor's 1st fight in PRIDE and 11th in his career.

What's makes this win even more impressive is that Sammy already had a record of 22-11 in MMA, with a couple of UFC and PRIDE fights under his belt.

All I know is that Mir is nowhere near Fedor, Nog ord Cro Cop.

PERIOD

Maybe, but by 2007 or so, Big Nog starts to beat Cro Cop again.

Cro Cop was great, but his prime window was a bit short compared to other HW greats.

poor excuses....Cro Cop was actually the lineal Heavyweight Champion when he lost to Big Nog the 1st time

He just lost to the better fighter that night

I always have Big>Cro Cop in my rankings.

Ppl forget Big Nog actually won the UFC intern Championship....Cro cop did f all in the UFC

A lot of miles on that body. He has 130+ fights between amateur boxing, kickboxing and MMA.

Cro Cop was beating up Nogueira before he slipped and got subbed minutes later; I would definitely favor him in a rematch.

Prime Nog couldn’t have beat any version of Cro Cop after 2005? Even the Cro Cop that was getting KOd by Schaub?
