Undeserving Title Shots -- Covington

Some are inconsistent for sure depending on their feelings towards the fighter. But some are like me, both that instance and this one are dumb. More deserving contenders in each that I’d be much more interested in. But I’m a fight fan and watch either way, so maybe I’m part of it lol.
Im a part of it in that small way as well, that i'll watch the fight and engage in discussing it as much as anyone else.

I know that's the objective above all else.

It's really only as simple as this. Like how is stipe vs jones Totally fine, but a fight like this inspires such outrage?

There is no consistancy to any argument that says colby doesn't deserve this title shot.

The people that complain about colby getting this shot are the same ones okay with aldo fighting yan, or stipe fighting jones, usman rematching masvidal.

their opinions are wholly worthless, because the circumstances aren't what matter, it's wether they like the fighter or not. This is the bed they made. Sleep.

I've come to grips with the fact they are going to make the match ups they make, and Im going to watch them anyway so there is no need to go up in arms. If colby doesn't deserve it he will lose. What's the problem?
Jones fighting Stipe is a great example of this b.s. Stipe is 42 years old and couldn't go a minute with the champ that Jones ducked for years -- Jones calling him out is like him calling out Randy Coutre, and the fight is ridiculous.

Also, I don't see anyone other than the WWE-type people that want to see Usman/Masvidal again or crap like that. Khazmat/Edwards would be a good main event, and have Colby fight Shavkat.

I think the UFC is gradually turning into WWE -- characters that draw attention to themselves jump lines over fighters that are much better.

Case in point, Colby: the guy is 0.50 over his last four fights, hasn't fought in nearly two years (when he beat -- let's face it -- a pretty one-dimensional fighter), and is a boring go-to-decision fighter.

The UFC used to be the place where the best fighters could fight it out to see who was the top of the food chain, but now it's moving towards b.s. matches based on which fighter -- regardless of talent (or lack thereof) -- they can build a story around. How far away is the UFC from scripting fights and outcomes?

Colby should earn his spot, and not with his mouth.

Wait a minute, I wanna talk about this quote right here.
The UFC used to be the place where the best fighters could fight it out to see who was the top of the food chain,

Come on, you've been watching the sport since 2003 and think this is is recent??

2003 - Randy Couture gets an instant title shot at LHW coming off two losses at HW with no prior fights at LHW
2007 - Randy Couture again gets a shot at the HW belt after a loss and not fighting at HW for 4 years
2008 - Brock Lesnar gets a title shot after being 1-1 in the UFC and 2-1 in MMA
2016 - Conor gets direct shot at LW title and a year later at the LW title again.
2013 - Nick Diaz gets a shot at GSP coming of a loss while Hendrcicks had a big winning streak
2013 - Chael Sonnen gets a shot at Jones LHW title after a loss at MW and not fighting at LHW for 7 years
