According to Sports Media Watch, the 0.8 is one of the lowest metered market ratings ever for a sporting event on prime-time network television. Every NBC prime-time PBC telecast has had a worse rating than the one before it, likely due to several poor matchups on paper.
Which one? The first one is pretty important, although I dont agree with boxing tournaments.Pull the plug on that shit already.
NBCSN already had boxing with Kathy Duva's promotion (which is why she also hates Al Haymon) called Main Events. For what it's worth, I would just like to point out that MMA promotion World Series of Fighting started out as a time buy- maybe still are- on NBC SN in 2012 and have successfully run 31 pretty decent mixed martial arts cards in the last almost four years on that cable channel and at least a couple on the big network NBC. There were also a couple of WSOF Canada cards on tv or online. A lot of people have speculated all kinds of things about who was financing them and why including the supposed fact they couldn't possibly have made a profit in that time and that the promotion was going to imminently fold after almost every event. Some or all those rumors may be true, but they're still going strong in 2016 with a decent roster and good events already scheduled for the latter half of this year. Hasn't affected my enjoyment of all the bouts on what is arguably the number three promotion in the U.S.. Whatever the deal is with the PBC behind the scenes, I hope they keep continuing putting on a lot of boxing cards.
Those are interesting factoids, but we're getting to see a lot of boxing on tv, whatever the behind the scenes shenanigans are.NBCSN already had boxing with Kathy Duva's promotion (which is why she also hates Al Haymon) called Main Events.
In the end, neither network deal would pay boxers nearly enough. The WSOF deal for a whole year can probably only cover 1 PBC event payout.
I cant start new threads for some reason so I'll leave this here
**PBC 2.0 incoming - funded by an international conglomerate **
It's actually their time. They bought it.They should pull the plug on the NBC relationship at least, since they are giving them all the B & C level cards anyway.
Broadcast that shit on www.gfl.tv or some shit, and quit wasting NBC's time.
WTF man, these promoters need to work together
WTF man, these promoters need to work together
They can hold it in Pizza Hut next to the ice cream machine with fat Dan as guest ref.Golden Boy, Kathy Duva and Top Rank are probably already scheming on how to take Schaefer to court
"What I will be doing first is putting the team in place and I will be pursuing network deals and start to sign fighters. I believe putting things in the right order. Some others sign fighters and then chase these others things. I like to do it the other way around. I want to be able to offer young fighters, maybe some coming off [this summer's] Olympics or world champions who will become free agents a platform on television and sponsors so that I can tell them what I will do for them and how I will make them the kind of money I made for Floyd Mayweather and for many others. That's what I want to offer the talent out there. I made Oscar a lot of money, including outside of the ring."
