I was just looking at odds for the next UFC card and saw something that blew me away. Umar Numagomedov is scheduled to face Deiveson Figueredo. Umar should be pretty big favorite as Fig has 1 split decision win and 2 losses in his last 3 as well as being 38 years old. However, Umar is a staggering -2000 vs Figueredo +850.

This is absolutely insane. Don't get me wrong, I don't think he has much of a chance, but that's one of the largest spreads in promotional history.

To anyone saying 'sounds about right'...you know nothing about betting odds. Anthony Joshua was only -1200 vs Jake Paul +500. Randy Couture was around -800 vs James Toney. Jon Jones was around -750 vs Chael.

Are they expecting a ton of money on Umar? Is it just blatant disrespect to Fig? Why does this fight have the widest odds in UFC history? Certainly there have been much more lopsided fights. It's not even the biggest squash mash on THIS card. They found another can for that Gautier guy to smash and he's only -1100.

I'm not expecting Fig to win, but these are the craziest odds I've ever seen.

This isn't the widest line in UFC history. Dobson vs Agapova was bigger, with Aga being the favorite. She got her ass whooped and finished lol.

At BW Figgy's mostly been a wrestler. His striking has worked here and there, but really seems like he's preferred the ground. That said, Umar isn't as giant as others are range wise, Figgy might find more success in this fight on the feet. Figgy is one of my favorite FLWs when he was in his prime, just hasn't fought like that in forever.

Figgy having to turn into a time-stalling wrestler against Jackson doesn't bode well for him.

Fair odds would probably be Umar at like -500 to -750, so yeah definitely inflated heavily, will probably correct closer to the fight.

it opened at -800. people know Umar is a lock, shrug. you even said it yourself, Umar is going to win.

Umar is definitely one of the bigger 135ers, he's just not the tallest. Considerably larger than Figgy. Definitely broader and thicker than Bautista was by a noticeable amount, maybe an inch shorter. Noticeably bigger than Merab too.

Guys like Omalley and Sandhagen aren't the epitome of "big for their division" and "size advantage" there's a reason that skinny guys built like rails are not usually champions yet everyone calls it a "size advantage".

Montel Jackson and Lok Dog are huge, ironically Figgy just beat Jackson.

Figgy has been looking pretty bad lately and he has no advantages over Umar.

This is a mismatch

I'd say his power is pretty clearly an advantage over Umar. Not saying it will be a factor in the fight, but it is an advantage. The dude dropped Yan and chito, two guys notoriously hard to drop.

His short stature and high level grappling might make Umar have to work a lot harder than usual in the grappling too, but the main problem here is that figgy has been gassing FAST as he ages. He's pretty much a one round fighter at this pojbt UNLESS he can dictate a very slow pace fight, which seems unlikely here.
