Jesus....call me a pussy, or whatever, but that is just too damn gruesome and close to death for me. If you haven't seen the MRI of his skull, check it out. It doesn't look too far from massive brain injury. Hell, it could still turn out that way.
It makes me feel pretty weird that after that, there's a guy celebrating, and a crowd cheering.
Eventually there's going to be a high-profile death or paralysation in the cage. It's not going to be a good day.

Meh. It's a contact sport and I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner. People were cheering an awesome knockout, not the fact that some got his forehead shattered.

the fans couldnt know how serious it really was. they cheered because that kind of ko is ultimatley what they paid to see. Thats the nature of full contact fighting.

I honestly think had MVP known the severity of the injury he wouldn't have went through with the celebration. Such an accurate and lethal knee. It didn't even look that hard. Just pinpoint accuracy and speed.

I'm upset too but keep in mind that's the only very serious injury among 1000s of fights from major MMA orgs.

I knew it was going to be nasty when I saw him go down. He wasn't knocked out, he was in pain.

When a grizzly veteran like Cyborg goes down like that, squirming in pain, you know it's bad.

I still didn't expect his skull to be caved in like it is. Up there with the worst MMA injuries of all time, IMO.

I can't think of a worse one, can you?

Leg breaks are nothing compared to a hole in your f****** skull.

That's an x-ray. MRI is for soft tissue only.

But yes, it does put an unpleasant spin on an otherwise stellar KO.

Yeah, i figured his orbital got exploded or his nose was relocated to a different section of face from how he reacted. Now we see why. Brutal.

Yeah it's pretty fucking horrendous. The frontal sinus is dense with very small and very fragile structures, there's no way he's walking from that without some kind of permanent damage.

Jesus.

Enson Inoue's skull injury would be up there as well. He was savagely beaten by Igor Vovchanchyn and hospitalized for some time with cracks in his skull and major brain swelling. Just looking at his condition at the conclusion of the fight was horrifying

and thats the hardest spot on the head, that is brutal, hope he gets better soon, and retire man, its not worth it, MMA is brutal

Bellator is partially to blame due to dangerous matchmaking. I know cyborg is a veteran, but purely based upon records this is a terrible mismatch. Rather than test MVP against another contender, they give him easy matchups and hope for the highlight reel ko.

Thats the point. This is combat. That Page showed martial excellence.

I don't think there would have been all the celebration and cheering if they knew how serious it was at that time

Sadly I think good percentage of the audience would still be cheering. After Corey Hill broke his leg over Dale Hartt's knee the crowd started to cheer louder and Hartt walked around the Octagon holding a finger to his lips trying to tell them to be quiet.

Agreed. This is similar to when Bellator made the fight of Hector Lombard (who was knocking people out left and right at that time) and Herbert "Whisper" Goodman who was famous for not only getting KO'd but for staying unconscious for several minutes after all his KOs twitching like he was about to die. I thought to myself at the start of that fight, how in the hell did the commission ok this, do they not realize who Herbert Goodman is? This kind of extreme star-building fight where it's obviously going to end really badly for the intended loser needs to be stopped. They're not actually creating real stars, they're just creating people like Junie Browning, and even worse, creating a bunch of douchebag "fans" who actually believe the hype and think Page knocking out a dude ten years older than him and rolling a pokeball at him is cool. Get rid of the inflated record inflated ego "stars" and the douchebag "fans" who like them please.
