UFN 134 Shogun vs Smith

also i would be carefull judging fighters like Nas and Rakić on previous fights since they they only had there ufc debuts. they are so young and came from some small eu gyms to some of the biggest camps in world.. more then likely they will look like completely different fighters
Heh, that is absolutely a concern too, since Ledet trains out of pretty small gym I think. I'd be all over Rakic if he was fighting a gatekeeper, but in contender vs. contender I'll have to go with the more proven fighter.

I'm on Nas, btw. Took his early odds at 3.2.

This is what im seeing as well in that fight. Sherman has no head movement, and showed good legkicks. BUT, I have to give Ledet's boxing credit. Very crisp boxing, and the way he sets his straight right up with 1,2 jabs is beautiful. Ledet has a HW chin, and wont back down to phonebooth with Rakic. Rakic could stop Ledet, if he connect the right way though, but Ledet does a great job og moving without taking full impact.

Im a bit more torned about the pick now, but Ledet has more tools to win IMO. Rakic has a good speed/cardio adv. I have not made my mind yet, but im still feeling a 1,5u bet on Ledet. Will probably wait to see weighin.

EDIT: I completely understand a bet on Rakic, but I just like Ledet's skills too much atm.
agreed Ledet's boxing is some of the best i have seen in the ufc. not sure if he have more ways to win as Ledet's ground game is still a complete unknown to me.. td and subbing Godbeer means nothing to me =/

i will likely be on Ledet too if he looks good at the weigh-ins

Have you decided on a bet for the fight or is it a pass for you?

I just finished watching tape on both and I don't have a strong lean either way to lay a bet.

Liu is going to be the bigger, more athletic, faster and bigger puncher of the two but his striking is really unpolished and raw. The technique isn't there and his striking really consists of feints with an overhand right and left hook. I'm not sure he can put away Stasiak, who ate some big shots from Munhoz and Kelleher and was okay but at the same time Stasiak is pretty hittable. His grappling looked improved in his last few fights with good takedowns but hard to say against that level of competition. I do think he is going to look a lot better after training at Jackson Winklejohn and he is only 25 years old. He actually looked better on tape than Yadong Song did before their UFC debuts.

Damian Stasiak is pretty well rounded and has fought better competition and a better striking arsenal but he has no pop in his punches, almost seems like guys are walking through it. People are thinking he will just take Liu down and submit him but I'm not so sure with Liu's improvements in the grappling department.

If we see the same improvements that we saw in Yadong Song after training at Jackson Winklejohn, he might starch Stasiak on the feet. He is going to be faster than Stasiak and loves to press forward and Stasiak is suspectible to hooks.

I'll be passing, can't get a proper read due to level of competition.

Started really late with taping this event but immediately have a line that I really like. Kimball - Stosic Under 1,5 @+110 has great value IMO.

Both of these guys rarely get over 1.5 rounds in their fights and I don't think this one will be any different. Of course a 2nd or 3rd round finish is possible, but I really don't see this going to a decision so a FDNGTD bet or as a part of a parlay is also something worth looking at. For now I'm really happy with my 1,5u on the Under 1,5 @+110

Narimani - Taha to end in KO @ 3.60 / +260 at Paddypower is a good line imo. Both are big punchers and will stand and bang.

Taha will bang, but I think Nad is going to take this to the ground where he has the advantage. I have watched 3 Taha fights and he had his back taken in two of them and got subbed in the other.

Nad was taking Pimblett to the ground and Pimblett prefers to grapple. Don’t see why he woulsnt test Taha’s sub defense

Also Nad has 2 career KO’s and not that great power. This is Taha KO or Nad decision/sub IMO

I agree Narimani can sub him as well, but I think he has 50-50 chances to sub or KO. He goes for big punches as well when he has the back as seen in previous fights.

i like it along with fight ends inside 1 minute @ +1300

I like that one as well, but I don't use Betsafe anymore, so I'm gonna have to wait and see if Unibet releases this line.

GT

-loving germany, feels good and wants to see how ufc is over here
-was concerned his camp was going to be a waste since latifi got injured
-corey is impressive and had a tough fight, top 10 contender and gets better everytime
-corey is well rounded he can wrestle and has the height and reach advantage but he feels
comfortable he can beat him everywhere.
-camp has changed a bit due to the distance disadvantage
-expects the victory and will look for the finish, either on the ground or ko

Corey

-germany is wonderful but got here tuesday morning
-2 weeks ago, manager got a call that latifi got hurt so he told manager ill take it and got it sunday
-2 weeks notice but was ready
-says GT is a power striker and good ji jitsu on top, will stick to his game plan wont get lazy with hands
dropping, will watch out for scrambles to stop his sub game also.
-had a 1 week training for GT but always training in gym otherwise.
-says GT movement is not well and almost 40, will use footwork and speed to get around him
-a win will move him to top 5 or no3
-will dominate and start fast and finish fast after 15 minutes

Anthony smith

-germany is awesome, only fought outside of states in brazil but loves it here
-short notice fight with shogun, was staying ready after the rashad fight but manager said shogun
was available and contract got sorted
-arrived wednesday
-shoguns the most dangerous guy in the division, is powerful and crafty vet and well rounded
has had a story book career, is durable and knows what hes doing in there.
-focused on myself and was ready from an 8 week camp from rashad. Tweaked a few things to take
advantage over shogun, am one of those guys that adjust very quickly
-felt the best ever @ 205, was killing himself to get to 185 and couldnt perform. Wasted lots of years
fighting @ 185 but now enjoying the process and can love fighting again at 205

Shogun

-likes germany, arrived wednesday
-happy to head line a card in germany and in the main event
-new opponent changes was not good but it does happen
-have seen anthony in his fights before but now knows him well after research
-not bothered about the ranked and anthony not being ranked, due to fight falling apart
you have to prepare for everything.
-his strongest point is MT and weakest point is ji jitsu so that is his game plan
-has similar style to volk as in a striker so did not have to change too much for game planing
-he beat rashad who is a legend of the sport so has to be careful and mindful during striking with him

Abu Azaitar
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buHSgqQTWPo
-slept well and weight is good
-one door closes but another is open god willing
-can never tell when fighters get injured so has to be prepared to fight whenever
-whole life is a fight, people don't understand you can break your hand or leg so have to be the best
person we can ever be.
-is not an athlete that lifts weights, gets his opponent then prepares 110%, even without fights
scheduled will go running and training so feels like he fought yesterday
-miranda is a good fighter, good experience with ufc fights, very good striker and big and strong with
good leg kicks, these brazillians are well rounded fighters.
-I won't gift him here, you will have to wait till sunday to find out
-hard to prepare due to Ramadan peroid for this camp, but got the camp in morroco and took
2 good guys a strong wrestler and striker and prepared daily there. Had a black belt ji jitsu guy also
just to make sure was ready.
-panic is not good, am strong in the head

Nasrat
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMmQoGoUJp8
-trained with marc diakese before, is weird to fight him but knows opponents is not real enemy
so will see after fight if he wants to shake hands or not.
-respects all fighters, marc is an amazing fighter and have a good game plan and he has a weakness
so will be a great show.
-does not want to discuss marcs weaknesses
-trains at tristar, this is his 6th, 7th visit, coach improves everything to him has a striking coach, gps, rory mcdonald and just sitting there and talking with these guys is amazing.
-is a good friend with gsp, trains at his private gym with gsp also
-have a fighter similar and 10x better fighter sparred with then marc, rory feels he is one of the best strikers he fought with also.
-marc is under pressure so knows he is dangerous coming into this fight, cos 2 losses in a row.
-I don't give specific predictions but if he gets the finish he will take it or if it goes the full 15 minutes
it will still be a victory.

Marc Diakiese

-with his losses, has learned much about himself but this is high level so if you are not learning
you are not evolving and doing the right things when not too.
-asked for hooker fight since feels he is at his level, still feels he is a better fighter then he is
but respects hooker for getting the job done.
-still excited to show his progress he has made
-trained with nasrat before back in the day, but suggest he was training wrestling with him back then....
not actually striking so this time it will be very different.
-knows nasrat is a nice guy will shake his hand after but not while in fight peroid
-is much better fighter then he was before, will better himself on this 2 fight losing skid
-is nasrats toughest fight ever, knows if he takes him down or strikes with him it only gives himself
more confidence. Much more well rounded this time.
-am no longer a ko artist and more about his performances now

Emil Meek

-not on the media day, disappointed and mad at ufc... no idea why ufc told him no media day for him
-had camp in us so no issues to fight in states or europes, but in europe fight is nice can call it a smaller trip for this germany fight.
-competed well with the best if not 2nd best wrestler in his division, even though its a loss to usman but still not bad did not get smashed or dominated so lots of positives to take away from it.
-doesn't want a build up, happy to challege top guys and travel the world regardless
-always been in hard fights so not concerned with easier fights
-wants to remember fighting legends when he looks back in his life
-gives him motive to improve, mind is powerful when you want something badly
-thinks bart is very strong polish guy, uses a lot of strength and is hard to fight against that
since its a battle of strength vs strength but hes been out for 2 years not sure if hes worked as much
but says he could have improved his striking for example just no way to know.
-expects to get pushed and both will fatigue and its during these times you can connect better with
your shots so expects more action there.
-this is an under the radar fight, but loves the media and weigh ins and screaming at people
it boost him up.
-always high energy, when they took away his media day, open work outs day and feels weird
but this camp has been focusing about just winning so its fine.
-its no longer about just really beating the guy but focused on doing the game plan to beat him first.
-wants ko or performance of the night and wants that bonus

"-his strongest point is MT and weakest point is ji jitsu so that is his game plan" - shogun

Shogun sub +2000 is a great bet considering he knows what he has to do and his clinch td's will probably prove effective against Smith.

Nick hein

-had a good stare at him did not want to flinch and kept eye contact with his opponent during face offs,
was a show of who's the alpha dog, was respectful still
-got the hunger to win now after his last loss
-in brazil everyone was telling him to die and now in germany people are shouting hi so it makes a difference for sure.
-did have a good weight cut and camp last fight, but his fighting energy was not quite there but now is.
-is working with a specialist to get that intensity back
-see damir is stable and knows how to fight in all positions even off his back he can punch very strong
and has a strong chin also, wished he had a weak chin but in ufc they pair the best in front of you.
-it will be a tough job since wants to shine in front of ufc but this is why we love it and do it
-says mma fans can love you today and hate you tommorow
-been 10 years since ufc came to Germany, has raised more eye brows this time for germany
but he lives in LA now and some people don't even know him.
-knows what he was able to do in training camp, tried to separate himself from saying best camp ever etc but focused on showing improvements this camp but in the cage.

David Zawada

-happy to fight danny, I am the newcommer so looking forward to it
-use to this press and media, due to fighting out of KSW mma (polish org)
but knows ufc is the top of the top, so can say he fought for ufc at least
-knows danny is a boxer, but am also good at striking so its a 50/50, but am
in training and good condiition, can now go 3 rounds but since is southpaw
but had good training partner for him.
-trained with pfl top russian fighter and hector lombard and his brother and lots of guys
to train with.
-is a family in the gym but does not give gifts to anyone
-when i enter octagon my heart will show up

Any german and polish to translate

Shogun sub +2000 is a great bet considering he knows what he has to do and his clinch td's will probably prove effective against Smith.

I was considering that too, but he only has 1 sub win, a kneebar over Randleman in 2006. Supposedly he was focusing on his BJJ for the Villante fight but didn't once look to take it to the mat.

Villante has most losses by tko and Smith by submission. I think that line is worth 0.1u.
