I wonder how much a middle class house costs in Brazil? My guess is around 20 thousand American dollars. In Mexico you can get real good deals. Is his manager ripping him off?

Depends where you are. Zona Sul Rio - so postcard Brazil you are looking around 400k US for a 2 bedroom apartment.
