UFN 101 - Whittaker vs Brunson - Australia

I keep flip flopping on the main event. Brunson is a very accomplished wrestler from the US circuit so I tend to agree with you. Whittaker looked amazing vs. Hall but as discussed that could in part just be Hall not being great. All Brunson needs is 1 TD per round to win or 1 TD in r1 and then GNP. Whittaker OTOH needs to surviv 3 rounds and pretty much get on his bike from the opening bell (not easy). What do we know about Whittaker's wrestling and TDD ability? I am assuming he is on a significantly lower level being an Aussie..

JB what do you think about the main event? You are always nuthugging US wrasslin'

I plan to be on Brunson ML for 3u or so and hedge with Whittaker decision or maybe just hedge with the over.
I'm still torn. Ultimately I think I'll just stab "fight goes the distance" at what should be a juicy price. Whittaker is pretty methodical, barring a severe cardio dump Brunson should be able to avoid a big shot + he's tough as hell, and I can see clinching on the fence being a big part of Brunsoms strategy.

i know ive said this a few times but im 5-0 betting for or against brunson and this is the first time i've been a bit stuck. having said that with jw in his corner i think he fights sensibly and brings out that wrestling. i think the size advantage will be too much and he will grind and wear whittaker down for a late stoppage. if im up come this fight and brunson's ml is still around -130 i will throw a unit or two on him.

Do we think Taylor will let her hands go a bit more now that she isn't at such a huge reach disadvantage like in her last fight? I think this comes down to what the judges favor more, power shots or volume. Ham will probably throw way more volume but Taylor might steal rounds with a knockdown or two.

Also... Unibet can go fuck themselves, limited to like 15€. Might as well withdraw everything.

You think it will go the distance? I just don't see it happening.

Brunson has been so aggressive lately, I think he finishes it in the first round or gets clipped coming in recklessly. If he can't finish in the 1st round but has success with his wrestling, I could maybe see the fight going 5 rounds but my gut tells me its unlikely.

Do you know if Brunson did his camp with JW? After his last fight he said he has done his camp in North Carolina.

Quite a few on taylor, including myself the thing with ham is she could easily coast to a decision and win on points here with that jab of hers, but like we saw in her last fight with bec, 1-2 take downs and bec edged the round and looked better in the judges eyes, ham looks like she is just touching opponents and then circling away to avoid getting countered it probably does not look good with judges score cards.

Taylor has good wrestling and take downs, has that muscular and athletic frame for doing just that and I think if she ends up within the pocket and up close to ham she will uncork and show why she is nicknamed dynamite, if one her punches land I think ham is in trouble alone.

Taylor look the first ufc fight on 10 days notice, even said no time to prepare or do anything really.

If I can get +350 or better i'll take my chances and couple it with Brunson round 1. I can definitely see this going this distance. The biggest concern is Brunson's cardio problems but those were years ago and he trains at altitude. Both dudes are very durable, Whittaker couldn't put away Natal who isn't as athletic or fast as Brunson (probably not as good defensively either). I need the right price, but i'd be OK stabbing at a decision

All good points! I'll be on her as well I think.

Yeah I'm expecting Taylor to pressure and let her hands go. Ham is hittable and gets trapped against the cage often as well.

People that think this and let their fingers type BS like this makes me want to...

Take a joke jesus.

My damn account name is silly fruit. Chill.

I have no clue why anyone would bet on a WMMA bout where the dog is -110. Just skip it.

As much as I'm a huge fan of Whittaker's style and him in general I really don't see this ending well for him.

Brunson is a hulking middleweight with one punch knock out power, a much better overall grappling game and has faced the superior oppostion. Whittaker is a good counter puncher and his stance is good for getting underhooks to prevent takedowns but I see Brunson running through him by TKO. Questions of Brunson's cardio seem to be the main factor people are playing on but you would suspect Brunson has been working on it over the past couple of years, he's not an idiot. Whittaker has gone the distance 6 times in total and Brunson 5 times, not exactly a huge difference.

It would be best to just leave it alone if you keep flip-flopping on it. I've found that out the hard way a few times.
