“We’ll be working with the commission to make sure a situation like that doesn’t happen again,” Shaw said after the FS1-televised event at Mangueirinho Gymnasium in Belem, Para, Brazil. “First and foremost, Priscila’s health is the No. 1 priority. We’ve got a team with her at the hospital, and we’ll be taking very good care of her to make sure she recovers quickly.”

Mario, "Welcome to the Afterlife" Yamasaki

the ufc is to blame as well

They put a top 3 ranked monster in with some unknown girl that couldn't even fight.

It's not all on the ref Yea it was a shit stoppage of course but that girl was overmatched completely from the start and her corner should've known to throw the towel in at that point with torn acl and a bloodthirsty Yamasaki reffing

Ufc matchmakers failed her her corner failed her Yamasaki failed her everyone failed her

IMO The Brazilian girls corner has to bare the most of the blame. The chick said her knee was fucked to the corner in between rounds and they told her to “shut up”, on top of that they should have thrown the towel in the second round when their fighter was taking too much damage.
Secondly it’s the UFC matchmakers fault for this one sided matchup.
Mario is third in line but tbh I didn’t see too much wrong with his decision. If this was a men’s fight it would have been all g.

missed the event, from what I heard it was pretty fucking bad.

Was it actually bad or are we just turning into pussies?

It was horrendous. Sure a mismatch, but that's not the issue. It's a shallow division and Val was ready for a fight, so that was the matchup. They both signed contracts, both adults.

Now only the referee is there to keep both fighters safe. The corner could've stopped it sure, but these camps and athletes are hell bent on winning all the way to delusion. Only Mario had a neutral interest in the match, consider him a guardian angel.

And if he would've stopped it Prescila and her team would offer no dispute and save face. But she was ready to die out there, and now she may never return

UFC matchmaker are bunch of idiots, Mario atleast gives a fighter chance to fight back unlike Keith Petterson

100% in agreement with you

Pussies

I still don't understand what most of the people complaining actually wanted...
Can someone tell me at which point in the fight was the loser actually unable ton intelligently defend themselves?

Or was it because she tapped to the choke twice? (First one was not too clear IMO)

Everybody blames Mario...yes it should have been stopped earlier...BUT who thought that was a good match up????

And did the chick came in with an injured knee?
Round 1 is over and they right away to ice her knee...like they knew in before, there was something wrong

'Blood thirsty Yamasaki'

The real problem was the sanctioning of the fight. That girls professional wins were more likely akin to amateur, and she was thrown in with a very acclimated professional.

It's a good job they are Women's Flyweights, so not much damage was done, tbh. Rick Glenn gave a much more severe beating to Gavin Tucker, and IIRC there wasn't much backlash about that.

Pretty sure Dana roasted that Jay Leno looking mother fucker of a ref too

We've seen plenty of mismatches. Gracie vs Hughes, Mendes vs Mckenzie, Couture vs Toney, Punk vs Gall, Cyborg vs most her opponents. It's an ugly side to the sport but it does happen for a number of reasons, and there will be plenty more. And none of those were prolonged like this one. So no it's NOT about the matchup, but the way it was reffed.

It wasn't that Priscila was close to getting KOed or about the moments she was blocking shots. She wasn't able to defend with progressive strategy, it was like she was hanging on for dear life. Not how could she turn the tide, but how she could haplessly weather damage

For the MORONS says it’s her UFC debut……it’s the entire divisions debut. There will be Fights like this until the entire division starts to weed out who belongs and who doesn’t. That’s why u need good officials who stop fights when they need to be stopped!!!!!! - Dina White

I'm just shocked that one Brazilian judge had it for Priscilla up until the stoppage
