Media UFC signs Bella Mir to first NIL Deal

Is this like the situation Fitch got in trouble with? As in, is it forever? I didn't see anything on that in the article. If so, that's not a good deal at all. They might as well put a chip in her and have her branded with the hot dog brander.

American Top Team offered NIL deals to University of Miami football team a couple years ago. Don't know if anyone took them up on it.

The long-time staple of the mixed martial arts (MMA) scene in South Florida, Dan Lambert, will offer all 90 scholarship players for the Miami Hurricanes college football team $6,000 annual endorsement deals, according to an ESPN report. In exchange for the roughly $540,000 commitment that Lambert will be paying the athletes, they will promote his gym, American Top Team, on social media.
why wouldn't a college kid take them up on it?

Ladies first: Iowa's Bella Mir lands UFC's first NIL deal

The UFC is getting into the name, image and likeness (NIL) business.

The world's biggest fight promotion has signed Bella Mir, daughter of former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir, as its first-ever NIL ambassador, officials told ESPN on Friday.

Bella Mir, 20, is a freshman at the University of Iowa and competes for the school's women's wrestling team. She is already 3-0 as a professional MMA fighter.

"I'm super grateful and I honestly couldn't be more thankful to [UFC president] Dana [White] and UFC for giving me this opportunity," Bella Mir said in a statement. "I'm going to make sure I do my best to represent UFC and show the world what I'm all about."

...
Bella Mir was a four-time Nevada state high school wrestling champion, ranked sixth nationally at 144 pounds among high school wrestlers and also has won multiple Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournaments. Most recently in MMA, she beat Jessica Link by first-round armbar in June under the Xtreme Fight Night banner.
...
Frank Mir is an MMA pioneer who first won the UFC heavyweight title in 2004, owns a win over Brock Lesnar and was UFC interim heavyweight champion in 2008. He last fought for the UFC in 2019.

I'm very happy for her. Frank Mir seems to have a great head on his shoulders these days, and I tend to support him in his endeavors. I look forward to seeing how his daughter progresses as a competitor.

probably similar to Gable Steveson contract with the wwe, she won’t sign an actual ufc deal till she graduates/leaves university.
Speaking of Steveson, I'm happy for his lucrative WWE deal, but I'm selfishly sad that he didn't choose MMA. I would have loved to have seen how he did. MMA just isn't for everyone though.

why wouldn't a college kid take them up on it?

Don't know. I just never read up on or seen anything after it was first reported, so I don't know it ended up working out.

Let's say she has an arm bar or a heel hook locked in. Her opponent refuses to tap. Will she pull the trigger and break the arm or shred the knee or will her maternal instincts take over?
That hasn't happened in WMMA yet?

There goes her rights and freedom.

They just want control over her every move.

Hey not to derail the thred, but I was thinking back on what a terrible ref Osiris Maya was this last event. But wasn’t there an even worse beating than the one (un)lucky lauren took? I know it was in Brazil and it was some gals debut(?) or maybe a late replacement. It was so brutal it ended in the ref being fired and I think the gal never fought again. I can’t remember and it’s really bugging me. Plus there’s no card this weekend and I have fitepass. So I’m gonna do that all weekend:cool:

she was heavily tatted and had long beautiful hair if that helps …

All the best to the girl, but imagine being an mma fighter, going through all those wars and ordeals and then having your daughter do the same? Brave father, brave daughter I guess.

yeah but there's no 265lbs Shane Carwin's, Brock Lesnar's, JDS's in her future. plus she's a woman, cte risky matchups are extremely rare in women's divsion.

Yea shell have to move down to 135, but she's a bulky girl. Pretty broad shouldered.

She is still wrestling in college now and they weigh in 2 hours before they wrestle. So the kind of weight cutting they do in MMA is not really something she is used to doing, or has ever done. At her fight frequency and the level of comp she is facing right now, I agree it's best for her to stay where she is. She is 5'7 so she is not a small girl. Once her NCAA wrestling is done and she goes full time, they can see how much she has grown and decide on an optimal weight class.

She is a big girl. This is her at 150 lbs in HS

I remember talking to Frank at the spearmint rhino right after Bella was born and my son was a baby too. We talked a lot about it, it was a cool conversation. That guy has passion and love in everything he does but jesus he wouldn't shut up lol. Amazing person and cool to see his daughter, now a grown women, having such success.

She's had 3 MMA fights.

you're thinking of Valentina Schevchenko vs Priscila Cachoeira and Mario Yamasaki got fired but i don't think Cachoeira is heavily tattooed. you must be getting mixed up with Jessica Rose Clark who got her arm dislocated in her last fight.

Wow, you beat my thread by a minute.

Or imagine be a real pro fighter still trying to make it in the UFC, and instead of being signed or paid a fair wage, they send money to the daughter of some Vegas buddy of Dana's to make the UFC look like they respect women and get good publicity?
Abolute shame clownshow continues.

i'm not agreeing or disagreeing. you do have a point, but i just want to know why do you post here and why do you still watch the UFC? i'm not tryna be a dick i genuinely want to know. there's a few posters i notice who just absolutely hate the UFC, Dana White, and anything that supports it. like it seems you guys took up a hobby that you absolutely hate. i know there's other MMA orgs out there but i know you watch the UFC because it's still the top league. doesn't it fuck with you after a while?
