UFC should work on their crowdless production a bit more (comparison with yesterday's boxing card)

If you allow fans to contribute noise how do you stop someone like me from screaming penis or “kick him in the dick!” any time it gets quiet?

NBA system was basically just applause. Based on the broadcast, remote fans were just hitting the equivalent of an applause button. But add it all up & it started to feel like big plays got a legit crowd reaction

They should add laugh tracks to the UFC fights.
Yeah. Every time Joe Rogan shouts he’s hurt!!! Or when he shouts how “this choke is DEEP!” as the fighter is pulling himself free.

Agreed with OP, that show was amazing and I was thoroughly entertained. The intermission tracks by rap artists was pretty dope. The black back drop during the fight with no crowd and or visible seats was bad ass. I presume who ever coordinated this has less funds than the UFC, but they sure the hell did much better. This was a great event, more entertained than most boxing events. Best COVID event I've seen.

So there was no “kick him in the dick!” Button?

Well that’s no fun...

For those of you who watched it, yesterday's boxing card had really nice set up and lighting for their fights. I'm not the type to shit on UFC. Their production is fine but I realized that yesterday's boxing card brought it to the next level.

They had great lighting, great camera angles, and the audio was very crisp. They also had a crowd track during a couple fights with simulated crowd sounds which was actually pretty nice. Not intrusive at all but loud enough to make you enjoy the big moments more. Very nice imo but not necessary to enjoy the fights just a nice addition.

I think UFC could do better but I'm sure yall don't care.

i think fake crowd noise is stupid.

I don't know wtf TS is talking about. The Tyson fight was one of the lowest b-level productions in the history of combat sports. The lasers light show looked like cheesy 80's school photos effects. The rappers(other than snoop) were god-awful. The announcers kept making mistakes. And did anyone else notice that most of the Tyson/Jones fight was labeled as 2 other fighters and was shown as a 6 round fight, that is until somewhere between the 3rd and 4th round when they changed it up showing it to be an 8 round fight and that indeed it was Tyson and Jones in the ring? The whole thing was kinda cringe. If it wasn't for charity I'd really have a problem with it.

I have a feeling the solution is going to be actually mic’ing a limited audience.

Fake crowd noise is inauthentic, there is no way around that.

yes and no. Fake crowd noise is more "real" for a professional sports competition usually held before thousands than dead silence, so it's not a matter of fake or not, but which is less fake, IMO.

In that regard, it's not like a laugh track, at all, which is meant to cover up the fact that the shit is just not funny. Playing crowd noise where there would, normally, actually be crowd noise isn't quite the same.

But, obviously, we all look forward to when the crowd noise is authentic, again.
