It would be for the first 3 division champion in UFC history as well as the biggest money fight they could possibly make. Woodly keeps his welterweight belt except it will now have a 175 pound limit. Could also echo into creation of 195/225 divisions and hopefully removing any weight limit on heavyweights.

if that's what it takes to make 165, I wouldn't mind it

Neither would defend.

GSP already said a fight with Conor does nothing for him besides money.

Yeah that’s smart... a pseudo sport hemorrhaging the last of its credibility starting a make believe division between two guys who pissed away 3 titles in the span of a year...

2 non defending champions are fighting for another belt, lul

feed them with belts. they dont need to defend anything, just feed them with belts and money fights.

People on here will says it's a bullshit idea and should not happen but if the UFC made the fight at 165 for the new belt we would all watch and we'd all love it.

How did GSP piss away a title when the "champ" Whittaker hasn't fought since becoming "champ"?

It all happened in the 1st place because Whittaker was injured. The other reason being Bisping not being willing to defend......

Not sure what GSP had to do with a belt not being defended.....

I would only assume introducing a 165lb division would mean moving WW up to 175lbs. I don't think there should only be a 5lb difference between weight classes, don't want to dilute the sport like boxing

Are you implying that GSP had ANY intention to defend that MW belt???

I'm sure this sounded like a better idea when it was floating around in your head, but when you were typing it out you didn't get any warning flags?

1. The UFC doesn't need more divisions, if anything, they need less divisions.
2. The UFC doesn't need a title on the line to sell a GSP/McGregor PPV.

Not sure. If he didn't, that's pretty weak.

Either way, he got the belt off the guy who was cherrypicking contenders like 45 year olds and 4 years retired WWs.

GSP just took that out of the equation. Shouldn't be shitting on him for doing the division a favor.

I don’t blame him for picking and choosing Bisping. Personally it was the best decision for him BUT as a supporter of MMA I can soundly say it also hurt the sport.

So my point is that UFC titles are losing any value and their credibility is almost shattered. Might as well be a prop at this point.

Adding a make believe division won’t do the sport any favors.

What blows my mind is GSP not waiting months (or years) while holding up a division. He vacates quickly and people still give him shit for it. Makes no sense.
