UFC should make custom posters for every PPV event.

The UFC 194 poster.
They shrunk Conor to make him look like he's Aldo's size. He looks like a hobbit. Horrible job.

thats not a poster though, thats just a graphic.

They are using the same fonts throughout and the flash graphics for web, twitter etc, are basically all with the same layout etc. but they are varying things slightly on teh posters..

191 - same font, athletes backed in gold

192 - face off poster, but same font and use of ufc logo and #number in boxes

193 - Rousey/Holm face off. Theres also a frontal basic graphic. again, font same

194 - same fonts, logo in boxes etc, but flag backgrounds

They are different, but they maintain a consistent style, and that style runs through into the on screen graphics etc.

from a branch point of view they look great. They are trying to build a consistent look and it actually looks pretty good.

I blame Reebok.

So this thread is about the font used on UFC posters?

Okay.

there are better shoopers on here than hired by the UFC.

they need to fire everyone on the UFC creative team. its been a sad joke for a long time. Every time ufc has put out anything decent its always been contracted out to someone else. Their in-home team is horrible.

It's all about branding. The UFC hired outside help from an agency to update their new logo and I am guessing they also hired them to help them with branding. I doubt that the in house creative team is the ones who are responsible for the new look. It looks like a brand identity guide was created for the in house team to follow. I agree that custom posters are more desirable and they should consider going back in that direction.

With that being said I understand why they are sticking with this type of design. They are trying to become a "professional" identity. If you want your brand to look "professional" it is suggested that you keep the design standard the same across all aspects of the business. From business cards to posters to backstage passes. This makes for easier brand recognition.
