Man, screw Jon Jones anyways, that dude is a Floyd Mayweather wannabe lol.

Rare instance where DC is both salty and correct.

I don't see why everyone takes his comment as salty. That's how people are choosing to read into it. The cognitive dissonance here is weird.

"Yea, DC is talking shit because he's still salty!"
"Yea, but's he also right that Jones doesn't deserve this award!"

Well, which is it? Did he make the comment because he's salty, or because it's a valid point that most people agree with? And before someone chimes in and says "both!," I would ask why it necessarily has to be both. Why can't DC as a commentator make a valid point about a rival without it being some kind of slight?

As impressive as the win was, it's still just one win. No one has ever been nominated for foty with just one win.

Other fighters have done more than him this year.

GSP was nominated for 2018 Fighter of the Year ESPY after his one win over Bisping.

That alone is enough to justify Jon Jones receiving the same nomination.

I wonder if Cormier and others are also against GSP being nominated.

Giving the award to Jones is total disrespect to the guys that fought more than once in a year. Gane didn’t even fight back.

There's always gonna be a strain of competitive jealousy whenever he talks about Jones but ... he's got a point, ye know.

Literally anything involving Jon Jones, who indented his head, is going to make his blood boil, so he's salty.
He's correct because Jon doesn't deserve the award.
They are not mutually exclusive.

DC has been consistantly sending veiled barbs at Jones during his time as commentator.

One time he was actively misleading the audience by implying Jones tested positive for "something"(it was cocaine) for their first fight. It was during the Fox era. DCs diet is high in salt always has been always will be.

Even if DC is right doesn't mean salt wasn't the reason he brought it up.

For example a lot of people don't think MJ was the greatest basketball player ever and that LeBron or others were better. But when Scottie Pippen goes out of his way to do it it's clearly motivated by salt and personal stuff. Even if Scotties right on the merits it doesn't change that.

Meanwhile for that fight DC's own testosterone levels just miraculously and conveniently went down 10x between his surprise random test mid camp and his known fight night test.

"I've never tested positive" - DC

Interesting choice of words there eh?

So if someone besides DC made this comment, which you agree is correct, you wouldn't interpret it was a salty barb?

No, it would just be a correct opinion. No one should be fighter of the year with only one fight. However, whenit comes from a person that sees that other fighter as their greatest rival and the only one to truly slap him around, it comes off as salty.

You could see the rage and jealousy radiating off of DC when Jones submitted Gane.

“What did he even tap to?”
Lmao.
