News UFC: "Reminder that O'Malley is the only other current bantamweight to have defeated Petr Yan"

I like this match up, I thought Yan handled Sean the first time and the judges were instructed by the UFC to favor the golden boy if it goes to a decision. Was a great fight first time around, also by Sean, if this happens next I will enjoy every second of Petr abusing Sean and smashing his whole body in. I want Petr to brutally break him, bounce his head of the canvas and send him to the hosipital hooked on a IV and traumatized.

That's ESPN MMA, not the UFC.

Anyways, I wouldn't be so sure O'Malley is getting the next title shot with a win over Yadong anyways. I think it's a coin flip who gets it between him & Umar if they both win their next fight.

I've heard from several people that O'Malley is pulling out of the Song Yadong fight. Take that for what you will.

O'Malley doesn't survive 5 rounds if he's lucky enough to get a rematch - homeboy was teetering on the edge of exhaustion after 3 rounds last time in a fight he KNOWS he lost.

<respect>

I think he beat Yan, but agree that 3 rounds was a struggle.

He was starting to slow bad against Chito in their rematch after the 3rd, and it's not like Chito did anything the entire fight to make him tired lol. Someone like Yan is gonna gas him bad over 5.

He did better against Yan than anyone expected and actually digged fucking deep in that one.

Did he win? Questionable but it was damn close. He rocked him several times quite bad with a straight and a knee iirc.

O'Malley deserves some respect for that. He should still win one or two before the rematch imo.

He got a ton of respect even from doubters like myself. Doesn’t mean it wasn’t a robbery, it was closer to 30-27 Yan than 29-28 Suga.

When the fight was over he was lying on his back and could barely get up, looked shocked that he won when it was announced, and didn’t even claim victory on the mic.

If he KO’s Yadong early no point making him fight again, you strike while the iron is hot and let Yan get his revenge. Putting him in against Umar seems pointless to burn a contender and watch him get grapple-fucked.

Feed him to Umar.

I've said it a few times in the past few days:

Everyone is debating whether Merab gets a rematch or Umar is next for Yan. But I think people are sleeping on UFC favoritism. If O'Malley beats Song Yadong, especially if it's by (T)KO, don't be shocked if he gets the next title shot.

He hasn't even won a fight since his last two losses. It would be insane to give him another title shot.
He's fighting Song Yadong @ UFC 324.

And just to show you that the UFC likely plans to give O'Malley the title shot next, look at the UFC 324 bout ordering. O'Malley's bout is ranked higher than Umar's bout.

Dana White even said "I don't give a shit what the number says" in regards to Arman not getting the title shot @ 155 pounds, despite being ranked #1. Merit is out the window with the UFC.

O'Malley will get a TS even if pulls off a boring close decision against Yadong.

There's actually rumours right now he's not pulling out of that fight and is going straight to a TS. Third in a row.
