Before reading my post, please realize - Despite my Sherdog White belt I have been a fan of UFC since the beginning. I still remember the 90'swhen my aunt allowed my cousin and me to pitch in to buy the first couple PPV's.
With that said, I understand that this is a business. However, the UFC claims that they made the sponsorship for universalism, legitamicy, and to grow the sport. I find it extremely ironic that here we are 1 year later and now the UFC is selling for 4 billion. It almost feels like this was a move to screw the fighters over for the short term, make their balance sheets look better, and sell at a great price. I am not a hater. I love the UFC, Rogan, Buffer, and even Dana, after all
They turned this into what it is today,
This may have been said many time over, but my gripe is that MMA is an individual sport. What if the PGA, Tennis, NASCAR, etc. did the same thing and told their athletes/participants that their sponsors are no longer allowed. How much would Chevy/Ford pay for an exclusive NASCAR contract? What about Titleist for golf? Mizuno for tennis?
I understand these types of uniform policies being needed for team sports but individual sports have always, and should be treated differently.
Thoughts?
