Not really.. they're taken serious by UFC, by fans and by commissions. If rankings didn't mean anything, fighters wouldn't complain about them/their respective positions. Why does the UFC even bother to produce this segment? The rankings mean fuck-all. The rankings aren't taken seriously by the UFC or the fans.
#weight class rankings matter.

P4P rankings are useless/meaningless, but weight class rankings matter.
So bro's can thread them on Sherdog, of course. Why does the UFC even bother to produce this segment? The rankings mean fuck-all. The rankings aren't taken seriously by the UFC or the fans.

The biggest problem I have with the rankings is often times a guy will be ranked lower in the division but higher on p4p than the guys who's ahead of them in the division. Doesn't make sense to meWhy does the UFC even bother to produce this segment? The rankings mean fuck-all. The rankings aren't taken seriously by the UFC or the fans.

Yea at that point you just change the title, is this current p4p, past 5 yrs, etc..I agree, though the counter-argument could be that P4P ranks over a longer time period, while the divisional ranks are a snapshot of the division currently. However, I think that is weak, so I agree with you.

Rankings aren't there to establish contenders.I disagree. Number 1 ranked contenders fighting the champ is a rarity now.
GSP fighting Bisping
Nate Diaz is still ranked hasn't fought in 1,000,000 years
Conor is still ranked and hasn't fought in 900,000 years
Conor fought Eddie for the title despite not being ranked in the division at all.
Does it matter that Benavidez, Cejudo and Borg are ranked #1, 2, 3? No. They aren't getting title shots again anytime soon. If rankings mattered DJ would 9-0 against Benavidez alone.
I could go on and on with examples of how the rankings are completely disregarded.
2 cases where rankings were ignored, true, i'll give you that, but usually they matter, not only for titleshots but also for payment scale, card position, promotion etcThey don't really. How do you explain GSP fighting Bisping if rankings matter? Or Conor fighting Eddie? Or almost any fight I can think of?
You can trick the casuals though, and that's what the UFC wants. Why does the UFC even bother to produce this segment? The rankings mean fuck-all. The rankings aren't taken seriously by the UFC or the fans.
Lol at Megan cracking up when Forrest refers to the journalists as "highly respected and amazing"
Or maybe you could say rankings matter more than belts at this point.... meh prolly not if you like to make money... but it certainly matters more when it comes to who’s actually the best cause the belt sure as fuck hasn’t meant that latelyWhy does the UFC even bother to produce this segment?
