Yeah, I mention it in another post that it's probably ESPN raising the price, with UFC input of some sort. Regardless, still suggests that there is some monopoly power (in this case on elite fighters likely), whether or not it's the UFC or ESPN setting the price, it's the UFC product.

Even then, VPN while doing it, and you're good. Not to mention that is something that they rarely even go after, and even less so enforce. The fertitta’s are the real culprits. They maxed out and sold with a valuation predicated on the ability to keep costs down. They could have changed the dynamics before they sold and taken less of a gain, but of course, they didn’t. The buyers of course are going to stay the course. They wouldn’t have had the winning bid if they didn’t value the company based on the cost structure.

I think in 2021 it was $65 USD and UFC charged $65 Cdn in Canada.

So if it goes to $75 in the US it'll probably be $75 in Canada

Whoever sets these prices knows most people who pay $65 won't change their mind over a $10 price hike. They probably already have the timing and amount planned for the next price hike in 1-2 years.

That's the small picture though. New viewers aren't going to shell out $75.

They get hundreds of thousands of buys at $65, will get hundreds of thousands at $75 too....so if they dropped the price to $15 like someone else suggested they'd need well over 5x more buys for it to even out.

Even if they sell 5x more PPV's ($15 x 5 = $75) UFC would take less revenue because a chunk also goes to cable providers (except for those buying direct from Fight Pass)

Plus the post I quoted was saying $15 per month for ALL events not just PPVs...but they're already selling this for $10/month without PPV events thru Fight Pass or ESPN+...so they'd only be billing an extra $5 per PPV event by having a $15 all-in monthly subscription.

As much as I'd like the idea of it it wouldn earn only a fraction of the money for the UFC so I see why they'd never consider it.
