Rousey and Anderson may be the biggest draws left in the UFC

Anderson was able to get attention without Sonnen but Sonnen failed to do so with Jones

What does UFC need to change?

EDIT: Pointing out Rampage/Rashad on the graph

Impossible! It's the sport of the future....like the XFL

Where;s GSP on there?

I honestly can't remember the last PPV I paid for.

Needs to bring Sapp to the show.

haha but from I can tell fans like fights that are evenly matched

Jones/Machida was after Jones had gotten a solid reputation and before people started thinking he was invincible

Anderson/Sonnen - obvious

Anderson/Belfort - 2 big names colliding

UFC 100 - Brock fighting a man who had a win over him

Doesn't explain the lack of love for Cain/JDS - Maybe everyone thought Cain hadn't done enough to show things would be different in the rematch (e.g. Brock won the world title before fighting Mir the 2nd time)

Once it dips below 40 I'll stop watching

Aint nobody got time for that

The graph is too spikey to make any conclusion. Any really big event dramatically effects that. There were a lot of mismatches recently like Cain/Bigfoot and Jones/Sonnen. A FUEL event is not going to bring it back up.

UFC made a huge mistake not catering to the sports fans when UFC was still this fresh and new thing. They catered to the WWE audience instead when in reality, the WWE audience would stick around no matter what. But now it's hard to get sports fans to take the UFC seriously because they see it as a real version of WWE which just isn't appealing.

Have a tuf season with actual popular fighters that have a grudge (Rashad vs Rampage)

Stop having so many no name fighter filling up cards with one ok fights like Rampage vs Ryan Bader.

I haven't seen the last 4 events, that has NEVER happened to me. I'm just losing interest in the UFC.

It's amazing you think popularity is directly correlated to who Google searches "UFC". Please explain to me how in 2006, UFC was better known and more available then it is now? They are on fucking fox four times a year now and also have huge tv deals in Brazil and Latin America. They finally are entering Japan as well.

I don't think it's this at all.
MMA has historically had the freak show element to it. Why guys like bob Sapp, Kimbo, Lesnar where big draws.
People weren't tuning into Lesnar because of his collegiate wrestling background, it's because of his WWE exposure.

Yes, the WWE fans tuned in for Lesnar, but sports fans will tune in for guys like Jones because he's a legitimate athlete, one who could do well at other sports, which is a rarity for an MMA fighter.

Unfortunately, UFC is really wasting Jones by matching him up with guys who have no business being in there. The Sonnen match up was embarrassing.
