So apparently the UFC loosened its one time signings. Not sure this will hold up now that's it's sold but this is frustrating if you're a fan of the Last Emps.
Few recent examples and an older one:
Does the UFC not believe Fedor would be a draw ??? I've read extensively on the negotiations that occured over the years and the #1 Problem was Fedor did not want a multi-fight binding contract, he wanted a one at a time fight deal and rights to use of his image. The dual promotion with M-1 was a more minor issue and is now actually totally out of the picture.
I would 100% agree with the UFC not going along with this but then they go and give Cyborg a non-exclusive one shot deal !!!!
It goes against all logic... what if she becomes a huge WMMA draw and then takes away from the UFC by fighting else where ???
Initially, I blamed this whole thing on Fedor and I still think his business instincts are lousy but he's a fighter,
not an entrepreneur and surrounded by yes-men.
Now I'm seeing the UFC hold more of the blame and was the one really messed this up... if they could sign Cyborg and Toney, they could have made a lot of money giving Fedor a one shot fight with Brock when he was champ, it would have been biggest MMA draw of all time.
Strikeforce couldn't even market Fedor.... UFC owns his Pride library so they were literally showing clips of like 3 of his fights... it looked like he had no record... when had a whole decade of unbelivable footage that any marketer could have turned him into an overnight sensation in the US with.

- Cyborg was given a 1 shot non exclusive deal and then left to fight for another promotion
- Brock was allowed a one shot deal, has options for more one shot fights
- CM Punk is offered a 3 total ( or more maybe, I think) fight deal where he can have only one or back out anytime and fight whenever or not
- James Toney was given a one fight deal
- Sure there's others, I'm missing
