So apparently the UFC loosened its one time signings. Not sure this will hold up now that's it's sold but this is frustrating if you're a fan of the Last Emps.

Few recent examples and an older one:
  1. Cyborg was given a 1 shot non exclusive deal and then left to fight for another promotion
  2. Brock was allowed a one shot deal, has options for more one shot fights
  3. CM Punk is offered a 3 total ( or more maybe, I think) fight deal where he can have only one or back out anytime and fight whenever or not
  4. James Toney was given a one fight deal
  5. Sure there's others, I'm missing

Does the UFC not believe Fedor would be a draw ??? I've read extensively on the negotiations that occured over the years and the #1 Problem was Fedor did not want a multi-fight binding contract, he wanted a one at a time fight deal and rights to use of his image. The dual promotion with M-1 was a more minor issue and is now actually totally out of the picture.

I would 100% agree with the UFC not going along with this but then they go and give Cyborg a non-exclusive one shot deal !!!!

It goes against all logic... what if she becomes a huge WMMA draw and then takes away from the UFC by fighting else where ???

Initially, I blamed this whole thing on Fedor and I still think his business instincts are lousy but he's a fighter,
not an entrepreneur and surrounded by yes-men.

Now I'm seeing the UFC hold more of the blame and was the one really messed this up... if they could sign Cyborg and Toney, they could have made a lot of money giving Fedor a one shot fight with Brock when he was champ, it would have been biggest MMA draw of all time.

Strikeforce couldn't even market Fedor.... UFC owns his Pride library so they were literally showing clips of like 3 of his fights... it looked like he had no record... when had a whole decade of unbelivable footage that any marketer could have turned him into an overnight sensation in the US with.

Cyborg has been under Zuffa contract before & after her one UFC fight.

So ..............................

;)

Oh, look what we have here. Another Fedor thread who's title has nothing to do with him.

FTR: Zuffa also tried to do a Brock/Fedor one-off 4 years ago, but Fedor said NO

I'm pretty sure UFCM Punk's contract is like an 8-fight or something silly.

Yeah I think it is a 7-fight deal which is insanse cuz Gall's is only 3, I think.

They're really holding out for him to just survive long enough to generate interest... if he can just manage to throw a few punches or take 3 shots, he'll prolly get a huge fanbase claiming he's GOAT and then they'll market the sh** out of him.

Came in here to mention that Cyborg is a Zuffa fighter.

Ok that further reinforces my point they could make Fedor a Zuffa fighter and let him do his other fights with one fight UFC deals.

They didn't want to do it with Fedor because they were talking about him fighting for a title. They don't want someone to win the title, and then not defend it.

I don't think so. Get me a citation.... pretty sure UFC were talking about it and neither was in MMA

Go find it yourself
Right after you find out that Cyborg was under Zuffa contract the whole time

;)

Seriously your post was a mess of incorrect facts.

It is a pretty known fact that Brock agreed to fight Fedor but Fedor said no (he was retired)
Fedors management admitted it as well

You can claim whatever you like, don't mean nothing without a source homey.

But that's what Cyborg did !!!

I look forward to your next mess of a thread with bad info
Do some research "homey"

My rep around here for correct info is pretty good
My job is not to google & teach you MMA
You did not even know that Cyborg has been contracted to Zuffa for her whole Invicta run & I am supposed to believe you follow these things?

Learn or don't

None of the examples you've given are relevant in the way that you think they are.

They don't do one-off contracts because they don't want fighters building their brand in the UFC and then running off somewhere else to get paid. James Toney was a multi-fight deal. He only fought once because he got embarrassed; however, if he decided to keep fighting MMA, the UFC still had the right to his contract. This was to protect the UFC in the unlikely event that Toney KO'd Couture.

CM Punk's contract is a multi-fight deal.

Brock is a bit of strange exception on the part of the UFC, but they know Brock is PPV gold, and he will never fight in any other MMA org.
