The Ultimate Fighting Championship is ready to host its first event on the flagship network of ESPN, bringing an exciting card headlined by a major heavyweight clash between Francis Ngannou and Cain Velasquez.

Ngannou hit the scales at 258 pounds, as he prepares to face former UFC heavyweight champion Velasquez (248) in the UFC on ESPN 1 main event this Sunday at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona. Co-headlining the card will be a lightweight bout between Paul Felder (155.5) and James Vick (156), and all four made weight easily at Saturday's weigh-ins.

UFC on ESPN 1 "Ngannou vs. Velasquez," which airs live on ESPN at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, also features a strawweight matchup between ranked contenders Cynthia Calvillo (116) and Cortney Casey-Sanchez (116). A pair of featherweights will square off, as Kron Gracie (146) makes his highly anticipated UFC debut against the always-exciting Alex Caceres (146). Welterweights will meet as finisher Vicente Luque (171) faces the durable Bryan Barberena (170.5). Rounding out the main card will be a featherweight battle between Myles Jury (146) and Andre Fili (145.5).

Three fighters did miss weight, the most since UFC Fight Night 121 in 2017: Manny Bermudez (*140) missed weight by 4 pounds for his bantamweight fight, Renan Barao (**138) missed weight by 2 pounds for his bantamweight fight and Jessica Penne (***118) missed weight by 2 pounds for her strawweight fight. Bermudez was fined 30 percent of his purse, while the other two have been fined 20 percent of their purses.

Jesus Barao.....

Penne, a former atomweight, missed weight too. That was the most surprising thing of the morning. Although Manny Bermudez blowing weight by 4 pounds, dang dude.

Barao...they need to force him to FW like they booted Gastelum, Oliveira and Lineker up a weight class.

They should almost be a rule at this point that if you miss weight so many times you were no longer allowed to compete at that weight

Especially a guy like him who’s done it for some really big fights in the past

And that’s not even taking the medical aspect into account, this is so horrible for your kidneys without the option for IV infusion after making wa there should almost be a rule at this point that if you miss wait so many times you were no longer allowed to compete at that weight
