Unlike most professional sports, MMA is based on gyms/teams that have no connection to the governing body of the sport. this causes a variety of different techniques and training methods to evolve and many may not be in the best interest of the modern MMA industry.

The UFC has the money and ability to undertake a truly scientific and quantitative study of MMA training and all of the major gyms and teams. Through interviews they could gather past information on injury events during training and could monitor gyms for information to find out if specific techniques cause injuries at a much higher rate.

We live in the day of Big Data where almost everything can be quantified. These methods can also be used to alleviate the injury plague that is currently upon the UFC.

Im guessing someone checked his kick and his foot connected on the knee. You cant really stop that from happening.

seems like a big waste of money and time

I hate having to put more regulations of things like this, but I agree, something may need to be done to help the fighters protect themselves from themselves. It happens far more often than Boxing, and understandably so since they're training against more attacks and etc, but so many big fights get canceled due to injury.

It seems like MMA has more fighters pull out due to injury than any other combat sport.

He posted an Instagram post saying 'last sparing session' the other day. So did it happen on the last day? Wtf!?

Any other fighter and RDA would be fighting . Who walks away from the money he would get for fighting Conor?

I dont believe this shit for one minute

Breaking a bone from a check 2 weeks out from a multi million dollar fight

RDA bottled it and that's why there is not fight

Gyms just need medical/training advisors on board paid by the UFC.

It's obvious with MMA you have get in there and do this shit when training. Many fighters have said you're practically in a fight when training. Sparring gets real because it has to and nothing in terms of gear that can prevent injury. Boxers use headgear and their gloves. Kick boxers use those things and the shin pads. In MMA you have practice executing the various holds and also practice defending those same things. That stress on a daily basis on limbs and joints. It's hell on the body and real bitch. We've heard guys say how the fights at times are easier than the training.

Who cares why he can't fight. RDA himself said McGregor didn't deserve to fight for the belt right away and would get rekt by other LWs, now we'll see if he's right. If McGregor wins this fight he's in RDA's head officially.

No they just need to strip titles, fine and cut no shows. People will show like they do in real competitive sports with a track to championship. NCAA wrestling/BJJ tournaments etc. Pros just make 1000 excuses because they are allowed to.

Worse they only fight 3x a year while NCAA champion wrestlers, BBJers, GG boxers, etc sometimes fight 50x a year.

Limped away from.

For all anyone knows he tripped on a fucking banana peel. Maybe the UFC should ban bananas? Idiots.
