Unlike most professional sports, MMA is based on gyms/teams that have no connection to the governing body of the sport. this causes a variety of different techniques and training methods to evolve and many may not be in the best interest of the modern MMA industry.
The UFC has the money and ability to undertake a truly scientific and quantitative study of MMA training and all of the major gyms and teams. Through interviews they could gather past information on injury events during training and could monitor gyms for information to find out if specific techniques cause injuries at a much higher rate.
We live in the day of Big Data where almost everything can be quantified. These methods can also be used to alleviate the injury plague that is currently upon the UFC.
