UFC mismatches / squash matches

I know BigFoot earned that title shot by giving Overeem his first UFC loss, which was a huge deal at the time, but it was painful to hear that he was getting a rematch against Cain.

Gleison Tibau vs. Caol Uno, if not a squash match, seemed like a cruel bit of matchmaking.

Biggest mismatches for me!

Cormier vs barista Cummings
Glover vs Maldonaldo
McGregor vs Siver
Miocic vs Maldonado

All these 4 fights should have never happened in my opinion or never sanctioned. Glover nearly killed Maldonaldo that night becuase he didn't want to quit turning him into a punching-bag as for the 3 other fights they were non-competitive and you knew 100% who the winner was gonna be

i kind of agree.
but in favor of bigfoot, his last fights were:
win over arloviski
loss to werdum (where i think he actually won)
win over fedor
lost to dc (not even close)
lost to cain (not even close)
win over brownie that was a big thing
win over trt overeeem, big big thing

i mean, at least on paper, he had a chance, but in this period of 4 years, he faced 4 guys in the very top of goat list

Cormier vs Cummings is a great shout.

I remember that Rashad and DC were suppose to fight on that fight card but Rashad pulled out with an injury last minute. They had nobody to replace him so they just signed a Barista with 4-0 record and put him in against DC. People were making fun of the fight and furious about it. People knew that the UFC was selling wolf tickets for the first time ''DC vs Barista''

this fight should’ve been a no contest even if Machida was winning the blow that dropped Evans is a throat punch

Cummins even was building the fight saying he used to dominate DC in the olympic trials/wrestling circuit.

Cummings actually managed to carve a half decent career for himself after but had no place in there with DC. He holds a win over the LHW champ though he'll have that at least.

I agree he went on to have a somewhat respectable career after that but he was green at that time and DC was arguably one of the best fighters in the world.

This personally defines for me mismatch

Honestly? As much as people hate on the Siver fight, I thought that, for the time it happened, Conor-Dustin at featherweight was the biggest gimme fight in Conor's career in how much he'd get vs how easy the opponent fit him. Cowboy was a bigger squash in general, but it didn't really earn him anything.
