Mighty Mouse is scheduled to defend his Flyweight title against Wilson Reis at UFC 201. Simultaneously, the next challenger is set to be determined by the TUF 24 tournament, and it is built around the premise that Demetrious is so dominant and the winner will be his December opponent.

First, it is bizarre that Cejudo and Benavidez are the coaches, as they very well may fight the cast members in the future. But more importantly...

Suppose Reis wins. Of course MM is expected to smash him, but nothing is certain. If Reis wins, then the whole premise of TUF 24 is thrown out of the window. MM will probably be given an immediate rematch, ad if not, Reis has a slew of more deserving flyweight challengers.

This is a chance the UFC is taking. It will most likely proceed as planned, but who knows?

I don't see the needle moving too much in either direction, regardless of how this plays out.

Absolutley they are. The whole season of TUF is based around Demetrious Johnson. If he loses to Reis the show is in trouble.

The payoff is if DJ wins, they'll have footage of the cast watching DJ fight and seeing what they're up against. It'll make for good television.

Reis is a veteran training with Cruz though. He sounds confident and ready. The UFC could be playing with fire.

More like they are hoping he loses and the division becomes somewhat interesting again.

Yeah, definitely seems like the whole organization is looking past Reis.

That being said, if you are going to gamble on a fighter winning, MM against a #8 guy is as close to a lock as you can get (freak shows aside) in this crazy sport.

Flyweight is a joke and so is the TUF flyweight season, it is genuinely interesting they're getting every cast member to be a champion from another org but that's about it, wish Mighty Mouse and the other top 125ers would move up, would love to see Benavidez try his hand at 135 again especially

very disappointing MM is gonna break Andersons record having beaten a grand total of 3 legit opponents in his streak

It's a good thing people don't watch TUF anymore then, huh?

thanks for the non asshole response

There are seriously just trying to keep the divisions atleast a little occupied until they can get rid of the UFC. Especially FLW.

Rematches and title fights like this have been more and more common these last few years.

I am almost certain they arent doing TUF 24 for a title shot anymore. I could be wrong but i thought I read that.

It's true it's not a big chance because MM just doesn't draw.

I love watching him fight but casuals just don't care

I don't think there is too big a risk because they are getting such a low yield out of FLW anyway. So the only thing they can do is create more interest. MM would actually become far more interesting if he lost. The show would also be more interesting if they were going to get a shot at the belt against someone other than the unbeatable MM. I unlike many in here think that TUF could find a top level fighter who is also a draw in the division. Someone who has the personality to sell and brings a new skill set. I don't know if that will happen but regardless the winner will get a shot at being the next Matt Serra and some of us will get to know a bunch of FLWs better.

The one positive is that I was almost certain DJ would be sitting out till December. I like that he's getting the opportunity to fight again before that.

They're definitely doing it for a title shot and MM is on board. That was announced a few weeks ago.

Guise think about this " the best pound for pound fighter in the world" could also play grade 3-5 pee wee footballand, would be on the little man squad.
