UFC is dying

That's Hunter Campbell who said that and he is a lawyer. Not a normal lawyer but THE principal lawyer /hard-ass negotiator for the biggest most powerful MMA organizing the world, that often is run like a mafia cartel. Oh and the previous owners were the Fertitta brothers.

You REALLY believe Hunter Campbell on the Barber story?? They're just trying to save face in the best way possible. Come up with your serious sounding but entirely 'no evidence at all' medical story that they put out there in a real hurry.

Hey I suppose it's possible but....like Keith Shillan said in the Sherdog event recap transmission last night..... :
"I Don't Buy it"
Nah it def happned. Hush

It was a rough card. Started with an hour of filler, had only 3 finishes (I think?) and the main event fell through at the last second.

That said, we've had some good ones in the past couple months. It's normal to focus more on the bad ones, especially when they're more recent, but this pattern of highs and lows has seemed consistent over the past few years. Maybe that's just the new state of things with the UFC.

It must suck now if I can't get myself hyped enough to even bother streaming their lousey fights lately. I didn't even check in to the pbp thread, thats how much I cared about last night's bs card

The organization has officially reached catastrophic levels of garbage. Here's why

From questionable matchmaking to absurd judging and lackluster cards, the UFC is barely recognizable from what it used to be.

Pay-per-view prices keep rising, while the quality of the product keeps falling.

Events are bloated with filler fights, recycled matchups, and no clear meritocracy. Rankings feel irrelevant.

This isn’t just one bad card. It’s a pattern

The UFC is not the same business. The company that owns them as well as their partners make their money in many more ways. This is just a front business. All they need to make is enough for the overheads and in their case they are making more than that. Thats good enough for them. Unfortunately the fans suffer.

My biggest issue is how watered down the cards are and it seems merit matters less now than ever.

I mean we literally have a HW champ holding a title because Dana loves him and Yair about to get a title shot for the same reason while he made Islam vacate to move up. There’s zero consistency and the favoritism is holding back the sport.

But yeah, the cards have been dogshit lately. I’ll forgive the free ones because they’re free but it’s hard to feel like you’re getting anything for your dollar value on following the sport. Plus the ufc will sacrifice its own stars or hold them back because they’re scared of a fighter getting bigger than them and having too much power.

Matchmaking is their biggest problem imo… they’re so eager to create new stars and pander to new demographics that they’ve lost all credibility.

Rankings don’t have jack shit to do with title fights if you’re not what the UFC is looking for. They’re no longer interested in acquiring or even finding the best fighters in their roster, they only care about pushing the more marketable fighters many of which are mediocre and don’t have sustainable success like the golden era of champs (Silva, Jones, GSP, Aldo, etc.)

UFC is already dead. You should be watching real sport like AEW

I miss the wrestling days when they did not try to make people who would lose in the average bar fight look tough. Granted I have been wrestling since I was 6 and bjj/sambo since I was 15, but when I feel I can tap out 3/4 of the AEW roster in less than two minutes, it no longer interests me.

I want to see gigantic freaks pummeling each other.
