The bigger issue is that we pay the lion's share of taxes, serve in the military and police, we get falsely accused, they trade sex for favors, and we are the ban guys.

It's only offensive for the same reasons it's offensive to continually tell Muslims they should do what they can to stop terrorism.

Men already DO this. This is what we have ALWAYS done. Why is it en vogue all of a sudden to pretend we don't? Or that we have a culture that needs to be changes because it endorses this sort of behaviour? The whole western ethos is BUILT around the idea of good men protecting the vulnerable.

Go back to the 1800's and read Dickens and Hardy. Go back further and read Milton and Shakespeare. Or further yet and read Malory.

Or just remember back to high school when you and your good guy friends (assuming you were a good guy) told the girl that she might want to stay away from that dirtbag that everyone of you knew was bad news... and she couldn't run to him fast enough.

Why are we acting like this is some sort of new message that needs to be voiced?

Better yet, why are we trying to pretend that the commercial is framed in a way that expresses appreciation to men for standing up against violence and bullying and misogyny when its clearly wagging its finger and shaking its head, in a disproving 'tsk, tsk'?

The framing sets up scenarios that are resolved near the end with men taking action. I don't see it as finger wagging but I doubt I'll ever convince anyone to see it the way I do.

While it's not a new message to glorify men for doing the right thing I don't see a problem in it being part of our country's discourse. Clearly there are still problems with people ignoring abuse. Look at the catholic church and the coverup of child rapists. Look at Cosby, Weinstein, Bryan Singer, Kevin Spacey - all were known to be creeps at best and serial rapists at worst for decades without consequences. Same thing with Matt Lauer, Bill Oreilly, Les Moonves - all were abusive while in work setting without consequence. In politics you have Clinton, Trump, JFK all known to be lecherous scumbags that were cheaters at best and sexual predators at worst (JFK directed a 19 year old intern, who's virginity he took, to suck off one of his aides in a pool). Tons of people in their orbits turned a blind eye to all this.

I lived in a foreign country when I was younger and I didn't speak the local language. One night I woke up at like 2 AM and heard domestic violence happening in an apartment next to mine. I wanted to do something but I had no idea what to do because I couldn't communicate. I didn't know them. I didn't know if I would make the situation worse for the woman if I tried to intervene by kicking the guys ass. I wanted to call the police but I didn't know if I could communicate to them or if they would even do anything since the country was patriarchal and generally turned a blind eye to this sort of shit. I didn't even know how to say my address in the local language. I could hear the woman sobbing and I did nothing. I was mad at myself and at all the other people in the building who obviously heard what was happening and also did nothing. A decade later I still sometimes think about it with regret. I should have done something. I don't think a commercial is necessarily going to change anyone's action if they are in a situation like this but who knows.

Why are so many grown ass men getting so salty over an ad? I find it odd that these same people are calling others cuck and snowflakes yet they seem to be hot and bothered over a simple commercial. Do they not realize that whining and bitching over this only makes them exactly the same as the people they call snowflakes and cuck?

People have an opinion on much bigger issues than this and are told to "shut up"

Thin skinned and easily melted.
Yeah this is the probably the biggest hypocritical aspect of this "anti-sensitivity" movement. They try to prove they're above the people who complain through voicing their complaints.
I wouldn't be sad if half of the people on here got eaten by the abominable snowman from the Frosty movie (or a group of them I guess), because they have a bunch of shithead beliefs, but I don't feel a need to respond to every post I find offensive. I virtually never do. Seems like a complete waste of time. Plus in the end, it kinda makes me foolish for arguing for long with someone who I think is shit
