UFC Fox 23 - Pena vs Shevchenko - Denver

That 3-3 is a bit misleading though. All 3 losses were split decisions and 1 of them was a robbery. I agree though, Cowboy has looked great since moving to Welterweight, although he seemed a little bit off to me in his last one despite getting the job done.

yea it should be a good one both guys are tough and don't back down. Usually cowboy is the one setting the pace and it will be interesting to see how masvidal plays it. I thought cerrone looked pretty good against brown he repeatedly landed that high head kick and it was only a matter of time until he finished brown as brown was dropping his hands more and more until that last kick.

When I watch Li and Nash fights I have impression that LI is from lower weight class... or maybe my mind starting justify my bet :D

Training footage, Rose says she's the highest caliber fighter she's trained with, head coach says she can go 10 rounds

Florian picks Assuncao, Knight, Ngannou, Masvidal, Shevchenko

I agree surprised to see so many on masvidal. Masvidal is 3-3 last 6 fights cerrone is 4-0 at ww has looked awesome and not to mention he is 12-1 last 13 and its not like he hasn't fought tough guys.

Styles make fights. Speed kills. Boxing Cerrone's kryptonite.

My bad for double posting, but I originally posted this in the Bellator thread when I meant to post it here. Then again it goes with all of my double accounts that I can't keep straight lols

I swear to you its Goodfella... their style of writing is too similar to be a coincidence

Dude you're trolling me right lol

Ok I admit it, I'm actually Barry with a Goodfella dupe account and I used to post as Mike Nason. Of course this was all before my original moderator account name Positive Balance was banned for my crazed idolatry of BJ Penn. indeed, I lost mod duties after I was seeing teh "Prodigy" in my grilled cheese sandwiches and dropping the hammer on those who weren't.

We got all of this straightened out. We good now?

Gotta clock back into work here at my boring old newspaper job under the name of Clark Kent. I would post more often these days but my arms and legs are worn out for some reason. Of course I do know a guy who can reverse time but… it's so hard to find a fucking telephone booth these days!

Goodfella would love to hear your thoughts on this card...especially on Cowboy/Mas and Shev/Pena as those seem to be the fights where the thread is torn..

@Joseph Budden @iGnP @mkess101

I saw you guys talking about this too lol

Unless GF bought Barry's account I highly doubt it. Irrc GF was here long before Barr and Barry wasn't originally a troll so I don't think it's likely.
Then again I'm stoned for the first time in a year so I'm way too over my head rn.

Lol BT ... thanks for fielding this

Seriously, I'm fucking Barry? Only if I'm in some Memento style fever dream lacehd with recurrent amnesia lol

Yea, I'll post em' soon

I like Gamebread and Valentina at first glance...I'll expound later more

I can see the argument as people have had success boxing him, but Cerrone has beaten a lot of guys with good boxing, so Kryptonite may be a litte strong. I mean Diaz is really the only guy with good boxing who has actually beaten him. Whereas Masvidal has lost to every fighter he's faced that is on Cerrone's level and quite a few who aren't.

Looking forward to it, even though I like Cerrone and am leaning Pena should she become the dog. Haven't placed a bet on either fight however..

Mas recent comments:
Masvidal - I've been in Denver for a month, Cowboy took two fights away from me, It's personal, I really want to hurt him, when I look into his eye, I see the bitch in him, he won't touch me at all, I'm going to slap him, he's not sure of himself, we've worked out before, he's knows the character and athlete I am, he dropped guard, yes he has better BJJ, head kicks, but not wrestling, we've wrestled extensively, wrestling it's not even close, judging is the wild wild west, judges need to go to school, you shouldn't have to throw volume to win fights, should be damage.

Cowboy recent comments:
Jorge is not a finisher, he's a decision fighter, he's a big talker, we'll see what he does, he's split decision guy, I finish people, I'm looking to finish him too, I'll fight on the March card in Vegas, I like to stay busy, I say yes to everybody

Confidence decrease in masvidal, how can he say such a thing ? Guys only got 2 real finishes past 7 years, the jake toe stuck in fence I don't count, rest are all decisions.

Dare I say it confidence increase in cowboys comments, he was 100% right and is ready for a march return already.

I don't think a lot of people know how long of a history Barry has here. It was long before his "expert picks" thing he's doing now. He was a normal poster and just kept losing and losing. He transitioned it into a gimmick which has been pretty funny. He used to post at the same time as Goodfella before he started the "expert pick" thing, so it would be really creepy if they were the same person.

Cowboy - I love to fight, I'm trying to fight at UFC 209 in March, I stay ready, the only reason he's fighting me, is because I wanted to fight in Denver and he called me out, good job on being the only guy that would take this fight on a couple weeks, I don't worry about things anymore, I just go out and fight, have fun, I love my job

@MMA Goodfella getting awfully rustled about the barry claims... TOO rustled if you ask me

<BronTroll1>

Lol let someone compare you to the autistic spectrum betting poster that is Barry and see how rustled you'd get! Lol

O's right though, before his occasional "expert picks" gimmick he does now, Barry would post much more frequently and engage in conversation somewhat. But it became a running joke almost whereas he was actually talking about jumping off a bridge and shit from going bankrupt. He has been around for a long time, he just continues to reinvent himself like Madonna or something LOL

TRAINING: Wake up, either strength and conditioning in the morning or I drill techniques with a partner/coach. Come home, eat a big brunch, rest up and in the evening I go to the MMA gym to get my hard rounds. I put in about 4-5 hours a day in the gym as well as study a lot of film throughout the day.

Thoughts on opponent, Li Jingliang? He is a very tough opponent with a lot of experience. He seems to be very well rounded. I know this will be his sixth UFC fight and this is my debut, so he will be more accustomed to the environment. He is a brown belt in jiu-jitsu, with all of his submission wins coming by way of guillotine so I will have to watch out for his guillotine choke.

When and why did you start training for fighting? I was wrestling in college and I was noticing many high-level wrestlers doing extraordinarily well in the sport. I started watching and becoming a fan. After my freshman year of wrestling in college, a buddy of mine asked if I was interested in taking a MMA fight. I said yes and that same day we went out to Lansing, Michigan and I fought. From that moment, I became hooked and have been competing since then. That was in 2010.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I went to college at Michigan State University, where I received a bachelor’s degree in Sociology

What was your job before you started fighting? I was a bouncer at a nightclub and a kickboxing/fitness instructor.

Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? I was 14-0 as an amateur fighter and held three amateur titles.

Ranks in any martial arts styles: Two-stripe blue belt in Jiu-Jitsu, Division I Big Ten collegiate wrestler
