Who has the best chances to win such a grappling tournament?

Jacare vs Werdum
Maia vs Nick Diaz
Barnett vs Mir
Jones vs Anderson

----- Werdum vs Maia
----- Mir vs Jones

------ Werdum vs Mir => Werdum (HW and BJJ champ)

?

Werdum, Maia, and Jacare are the best of that list and probably in that order.

Maia beats them all in a pure grappling tournament.

Toss up between Werdum, Maia and Jacare. Any given day any of the three can win it imo.

Maia doesn't beat Werdum lol. He wouldn't even beat Mir or BIg Country due to size disadvantage

Maia is a technique master. I don't think he would finish them, but he wouldn't get finished. As Helio Gracie used to say, when two guys can't finish each other the smaller guy is the winner.

Barnett vs Mir would be interesting.

What are Diaz and Anderson doing in there? Jacare?

Jacare. Dude has more experience in high level no gi grappling formats.

You're probably right. He would draw in a submission only tourneyment and in any other tourneyment he would be stifled and out-pointed

Jacare and Maia are 1 and 1 in bjj iirc but Jacare is more accomplished. Maia would rape Nick Diaz in pure grappling.

Werdum has a significant size advantage and is a very decorated grappler so I would take him to win this.

Barnett is a wild card because he is absolute murder on the ground and a big guy.

If Roger Gracie were in this he would likely win as he has defeated Maia, Werdum and has got the better of jacare more often than not in bjj.

However based on the op tournament presented I would go for a Werdum/Barnett final with Werdum likely to win.

Watching men dry hump isn't my idea of a fun night ...... not that I judge.
