Media UFC Fighter Fighting On Main Card Has Been Arrested 14 Times And As Recently Of Month Ago

Criminal records make for higher risk employees and studies show they're more likely to be fired. Employers typically want to avoid bringing dangers into the work place, and ya can't blame em. And this particular job being one of actual TV time, you can imagine people see it as a form of celebritization. They have television partners and sponsor partners who often come down on things like that. People tend to want to see offenses sanctioned and the UFC has a Code of Conduct they're beholden to like almost every employer.

No one should be against people getting a job regardless of background (hell, connecting people with backgrounds to employment is a large part of my job). But supporting an active criminal feels a bit like sharing in accountability.

studies also show that convicts can reintegrate into society as long as they get the proper care after they have served their sentence. the bullcrap 'once a criminal, always a criminal' is just that...bullshit.

it depends from person to person. if an employer doesnt want to bring dangers into work placethen he or she is prejudiced because you have no clue who you are hiring (convicted or not) alot of convicts will not commit a crime again, studies show this as well. but if you treat all convicts the same: a danger that should be canceled....then the cycle will continue of course.

so again: why should he be canceled and who is to say that people without a record at all cant also be a danger in the work place. i DO blame employers or society that ban convicts.
tell me? how many people are in prison in america these days? and how many people of the population were imprisoned at some point in their life? all of them a danger? cancel all of them? and this solves it?

let's just ignore problems or perceived problems by acting like they don't exist or matter. maybe it will disappear

So we both brought up studies but the diference is "can" vs "likely." Of course oversanctioning people can lead to increasing risk, but so can enabling. MOST people who get involved in the criminal justice system are low risk and will not recidivate. This guy is already a repeat offender though. The cycle has already continued in his case.

Middle paragraph is completely irrelevant so I won't respond other than saying I largely agree, but it doesn't apply to this.

So let's just ignore criminal activity by acting like it doesn't exist? Maybe it will disappear, but if it doesn't, people generally don't want to look at a DV victim and tell them they were treated like they didn't matter

He just seems like a regular Florida man

if he is allowed to work, he is allowed to work. there are a zillion fighters with past and current criminal records. it is something that I see alot in american movies/tv/documentaries and in general. people that are convicted (or just a suspect sometimes) are lesser people and it should stick to them forever.

so he has a current criminal record. now he has to rely on welfare? or be pushed into crime? like i said: the ufc is (as far as i can tell) a source of income for him. why act like he should be canceled because he has a criminal record
This is not new, nor is it uniquely American. If you are a criminal/bad person in ANY culture, then your people will recognize you for what you are. He IS being recognized but for the moment, being allowed to fight in the world's biggest MMA promo.

I hope you offer this fine young man a job after he gets cut by the UFC.

Hey, I hope they do too. I have a large number of people I work with who have criminal backgrounds that I think would be a boon to wherever they work.

I also have a number of people I hope can get by but know for a fact they will not keep a job for more than 5 months with their pro-criminal attitudes and behaviors.

And domestic violence are some of the most repeat offenders out there.

Dana and the UFC are massive hypocrites and don't give a fuck about anything but money. Give women beaters and shitty human beings all the spotlight they can handle! Seriously though, someone needs to smash Dana's face in.
you love watching teh ufc
what does that makes you then

i should have seen this rap sheet before getting baited in by the odds and betting on him assuming he’s a live dog.

People who went to jail or prison, shouldn't be allowed to work.

That sounds like a great idea.

Sounds like a good person, unlucky is all.

Now I'm curious about how many times my fellow Sherbros have been arrested.

I've been detained by law enforcement a bunch of times but only ever arrested and charged once. Charges dropped due to incompetence. Good times.
Never. There are several instances as a teenager or I could have been, but I ran pretty fast.

I'm not gonna pretend to be outraged. Id much rather have him legally employed than roaming the streets with nothing to lose.

Dumas' next opponent: Chris Weidman.
Justice served, ... again. Only matchup to make!!

Props for not looking like a crazy drug addict anymore though. It’s like his face changed shape

Violent predators and sex offenders should fight to the death for all to see, live on television, tournament style with no weight classes.

It would take out the trash and provide entertainment too. Win/win.
