This is the kind of fight that still seems a bit unreal if you were following MMA during the entire PRIDE vs UFC season/end of Japan arc.
Mark Hunt, Frank Mir. That was the kind of hypothetical fight that is possible nowadays, and even if they are washed up it's still cool to see these guys who seemed doomed never to clash.
Frank Mir as always been a UFC guy, top 3 HW good Dana employee with Couture and Chuck. Yeah, couldn't find a 3rd spotless UFC HW dude.
Mark Hunt was the K1 champ and PRIDE very entertaining guest; AKA a guy who made his entire career in Japan except for the very unexpected UFC success at what was supposed to be the end of his career.
I'll give the same answer as back then... except I underrated Mir a lot due to his low level competition in the UFC and the weird TKO losses to guys like Pe de Pano and Ian Freeman. Good fighters, but not top 10 material.
Mir had an incredible come-back, literally better than before. And he boxed quite a lot, worked well for him (Duffy, TRT-less BF, Big Nog).
But my v-ca$h is on Hunt via KO/TKO
Mark recently developed a defensive ground game that he didn't possess at all before (see Wand fight for example, he just improvised until he found a way to get to his feet), he still has hands made of lead and he showed he can bang for 5 rounds against the same version of BigFoot, completly roided out of his mind, that fought Fedor.
So both improved in the area they were lacking before, Mir now has good hands and Hunt can understand what happens on the ground.
And since I think Hunt was a bad match up for Mir back then, the point is kinda m00t.
