Ideally they'd have it react to impact shots, count up combos of punches, have it look like blood splattering out of the ring, flash "Finish him" after a knockdown, etc

I never understood the rationale behind that. Does the UFC not want us to watch the fights or something? Let's just cut away to what Joe Blow is saying on Twitter, because clearly he's some sort of expert - so much so that focusing on his wonderful insights is more important than focusing on the action in the cage.
