UFC a Decade ago 2011

Funny cause a decade later lost of these guys are still dominant or at least relevant. Mma evolution at its finest

It was also the time when I started lurking here, made a couple of dummy accounts just to ask questions, then finally deciding to make a real one. The rest is history. Man, I can still remember everything that time.

Zuffa officially takes SFORCE into UFC roster in 2012 . The height of UFC( talent & depth) begins and ends through 2017- 2018. The crown jewel divisions are stacked and the lighter divisions are on their way to being stacked.

Even most fight night cards are 3 solid fights deep.
Stop cheating. Stick to 2011.

Also, outside the UFC the great Fedor Emelianenko’s losing streak continued. I think 2011 was the turning point where his chin was cracked for good—the Bigfoot Silva fight in Feb 2011. After that crazy fight, Fedor fought 3 more times that year, which is insane. He fought Hendo in July 2011, Monson in November, and Ishii on NYE.

This was really around the UFC's peak if we're talking real depth and talent. But, it's also when they leaned heavy into being the new ESPN sport which slowly lead to where we are today.

We take it for granted now but UFC 134 was the UFC's big return to Brazil after not holding a card there since 1998 (correct me if I'm wrong). The card had Big Nog getting a great upset against Schaub, Shogun flattening Forrest in a highly anticipated rematch, and Silva finished Okami in the main event. They've had 35 cards in Brazil since then.

2011 was a better time to be an MMA fan and I'll remember it fondly.
