With UFC 219 being the end of the year event does it seem kinda watered down? You'd think they'd wanna have bigger names bigger fights and end the year in a bang. Of course I could always be wrong and the fights be dynamite. Thoughts?

Yes its weak. Yes they had bigger fights until injuries happened. Yes, the fights will be better in reality than on paper.

We got 217 and 218 along with some really good free cards that were much better in actuality than on paper. No complaints here.

Who got injured? What were the original fights supposed to be?

Yeh i think they were probably banking on Conor to be on this card

I really don't understand how people can make threads like this and not post the card. The cards not the best and for sure lacking big mainstream names, but this card should have some amazing fights and like SA said we have had some great cards the last few months.

One thing I can't stand for PPV's is they rarely scramble for replacements or to replace a fight..This 11 fight card could very easily end up being 9 or 10 fights.Laaaame.All PPV's should be 12 or 13 fights,it's like pre-gaming for the main card.Especially considering Khabib is a big risk.If he pulls out this event loses a ton of much needed stock.

Cristiane Justino vs. Holly Holm
K. Nurmagomedov vs. Edson Barboza
Cynthia Calvillo vs. Carla Esparza
Carlos Condit vs. Neil Magny
Jimmie Rivera vs. John Lineker
Louis Smolka vs. Matheus Nicolau
Myles Jury vs. Rick Glenn
Daniel Hooker vs. Marc Diakiese
Omari Akhmedov vs. Marvin Vettori
Khalil Rountree vs. M. Oleksiejczuk
Tim Elliott vs. Mark De La Rosa

It's like a 4 out of 10. Other than Khabib vs Barboza who cares?

Don't really give a shit about anything on the card but the Khabib fight. Too much manlet/WMMA action for my taste.

I'll still probably watch but there's not much for compelling fights on the card.

Having Calvillo/Esparza on the main card is retarded also.

It certainly isn't a strong card IMO. only fights I'm looking forward to are the main and co-main (and I guess NBK's comeback fight could be interesting), but honestly only holly/cyborg belongs on a PPV... khabib/barbosa and condit/magny seem more like the main and co-main of a Fox card.
But that's the beauty of mma, just because the names don't intrigue on paper doesn't mean they can't be outstanding.

2 wmma fights on the main card.....it's almost like they're trying to gather crap numbers for this card

Sorry guys I usually defend cards like this, but this is simply too weak for a year end event.

As a fan I expect more from a historically marquee event. And none of the fights that fizzled out would have made this card what it should be, so let's just cut that nonsense out right now.

Wme is officially fucking up according to the opinion drbolony.

add

cancelled 155 lbs Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Edson Barboza
Nurmagomedov Kidneys Failure

It's rare that I don't buy a card but this one is an absolute shambles. I care about Edson/Khabib and Calvillo/Esparza. That's it.

Will just catch the highlights on reddit.

Nurmagomedov doesn't maka weight and we have a fight night croatia card

They don't always have a "year end card"....in the last 5 years a couple of the PPV's were very early in January with the previous event being around Dec. 20th. So the year end event isn't always a big ppv like "Superbowl weekend" or "4th of July" events, but there have been pretty big PPV's very late in December. This card though isn't as good as those of course but there isn't a BIG ppv at the end of the year consistently, which makes sense because everyone is broke from Xmas.

They always have to turn to the ladies with so many of the guys finding excuses not to fight.

These 2 should be good too:
Carlos Condit vs. Neil Magny
Jimmie Rivera vs. John Lineker

But yeah other than that, not a great card.
