I have not seen and have not been able to find the list of UFC 218 Medical Suspensions.
Did they stop issuing suspensions? Is that good for the sport? In a time when brain trauma is a hot topic in mainstream society you would think the UFC would be more sensitive to these issues. A $4 billion dollar business should be taking care of it's talent. In the past I've been critical of the lists since if you hurt your foot, they require doctor clearance, but if you have a brain injury the commissions seem to give you an arbitrary amount of time off... It seems to be up to the fighters to monitor themselves like Carlos Condit.
In many pro sports you see a concussion protocol that has been established. Athletes are given baseline tests and cannot resume training or competition until they meet certain criteria. UFC loves to distribute blame and responsibility for the fighters health to the athletic commissions, but they also like to self regulate to make sure they fall within acceptable social norms....
So how can it be that someone who was all but pronounced dead in the Octagon so recently by the world record holding hardest puncher ever has been given no medical suspension by the UFC or the athletic commission?
I just don't want to see it get to the point where Overeem drives in front of a train.
"Sorry guys I’m already in the gym!"
