No surprise there, mediocre ppv and card overall=typically low ratings and ppv buys.

Sooo many either shit or mediocre cards this year so far, and this card wasn't even ppv worthy imo.

"Never fear. All is well."

Or so say the WME-IMG clown-promoters here who believe the company wouldn't have paid 4 billion dollars for the company unless they had a fool-proof business plan.

Here's a clue for those folks: No plan will survive declining ratings.

Except for the main snd co-main fights this event was a shitshow.
Bamgbose-Brazilian Duffee was cool on paper but should be nowhere near the PPV portion. Belfort-Marquardt was cool on paper but should've headlined the prelims.

Thats what the UFC gets for only marketing the select few of their fighters that could almost do the job themselves, the RR's and Mcgregors.
Maybe if they promoted people like DJ, Stipe, Woodley and now Holloway year-round and not just one week before a barebones ppv they might become stars.

Right now the UFC brass is sitting around with their dicks in their hands, waiting, waiting and waiting for stars to emerge or return, instead of doing the work of building the guys they already have.

I could give you 10 guys that could become legit stars (not RR level, but peak Weidman level) if the lazy fucks at the UFC started spending to make some money further down the road.

UFC has never been good at building stars. Like you said they basically sit around and wait for the Conor's to emerge out of the ether, it rarely works. Holloway should be getting a big push from the UFC, great fighter, good personality. Instead he's anonymous..

WSOF champ brought the WSOF ratings with him.

It's so good to be back in the "UFC is dying" days.

Feels like home.

Can't wait to get the inside track on UFC economics from all the sherbros experts

No big deal just headline a PPV with Mighty Mouse and they will turn a huge profit..

Chuck, Tito, Anderson, GSP, etc.

Not everyone gets over the crowd the casual crowd be becomes a PPV draw. You don't even know what a "big push" means or looks like.

Doesn't take an Economics PhD to know these ratings and probable PPV buys ain't causing any champagne to be popped at UFC HQ..

The only reason I see why they wouldnt push Holloway is because he looks... like an alien rodent...
But the dude is funny, skilled as fuck and has that raw fighter-thing that raises him above the average athlete. He's also 25 and might do this sport for another 10 years. So investing some money in him not might pay off a long long time.

I truly dont know why they dont get Stipe some mainstream tv exposure. He's the baddest man on the planet, and an incredibly sweet and goofy dude, who's also a fucking firefighter. Aint nobody telling me that thats not a compelling character.

Woodley looks like superman, is a champ, an all around nice guy with a family and things to say.
Demetrious is one of the best to ever do it, funny and already has his twitch-fanbase. Get that fucker on Clueless Gamer or something. Or one of the dozends of gaming channels on youtube.

Yair Rodriguez, Donald Cerrone, Gunnar Nelson, Gegard Mousasi, Robert Whittaker, Santiago Ponzinibbio, Cub Swanson (although the UFC has realized it in his case, it seems), Francis Ngannou could all be stars if the UFC started putting them into the appropriate channels (Whittaker could do a fucking gaming competition with Mighty Mouse against some internet celebrities. Who gives a fuck, just give them exposure.) Hell if Özdemir wins his fight against Manuwa thats another guy that the UFC should start putting serious money behind.

Mediocre PPV line up and wack prelims will do that and boy did Assuncio/Moraes stink up the joint with that fight heading into the PPV

MMA and the UFC (in some form) will survive. It's too popular now to disappear, and all it takes is one or two fighters to really pump up the entire sport.

But that doesn't mean WME-IMG need survive. And even if it does survive, it won't necessarily prosper as much as the sport prospers.

There were barely any names on the card. Not surprising

Assuncao fights are usual very boring. Even casuals know that
