There were so many posts like this before the Dodson fight.

Completely different match-up...
John Dodson does not throw nearly enough volume and does not have the wrestling capabilities nor the relentlessness that Dillashaw has in the grappling department. Dodson barely scrapped by Zach Makovsky a year ago, someone that Dillashaw would piece up with ease. His footwork isn't nearly as refined as TJ's and resorted to just backing up against the cage. We have to also consider that Dodson thought he was winning that whole fight with Lineker based on the cleaner shots.

Dillashaw has watched that fight and realized that it is important to throw more and not let judges get hypnotized by Linekers aggressive movements. As mentioned by many people in the thread Dill has so many long range tools available in his arsenal. His sniper-like jab, straight punches off angles, and the occasional brillantly setup leg kicks will allow him to dominate the scoreboard. Lineker truly is very slow and rarely even throws jabs! I dont think he will even throw legkicks because of the fear of the takedown.

This leaves us with Linekers slow loopy hooks and pressure game. The only way Lineker is going to be able to close the distance is by bull-rushing forward which will leave him wide open for a take-down or counter that will stun him for a second. I know I am repeating others but Dills ground game is really good and if Lineker is careless when trying to stand up from the TD I think TJ could easily get that rear naked choke. This is why id be careful with the over 2.5. Linker just dosent have enough tools to win a decision (meaning the knockout is his path to victory) while Dillashaws back control could 100 percent put Lineker to sleep.

-245 is steep but worth it in my opinion when betting on a elite p4p fighter that has innovated MMA striking and is so skilled at every aspect of MMA. It''s possible he has the best wrestling, striking, grappling, and transitions in the enitire bantamweight division (the Cruz fight was razor close). What does Lineker bring to the table? A great chin and power. Even his pressure game hasn't evolved enough for his game to be effective at the highest level. Game planning for someone with Linekers game is wayyy easier as opposed to someone like Dillashaw and this is going to be very apparent come fight time.

I must say tj is possibly the most improved fighter ive ever seen in mma. The way he developed his standup is nothing short of remarkable.

I agree Linekars more easier to game plan for but no ones solved the Linekar riddle yet, a granite chin, powerful hands and leg kicks with relentless pressure and solid take down defence has allowed him almost contendership title material.

Nearly every person recently he has faced has had to back up and not really implement their own style or game coming in.

I reckon TJs going struggle with take downs but he may have success with his footwork and countering here, but it probably only takes one of linekars bombs to back up tj and change the fight.

Still like the overs first, tj decision but like the idea of playing linekar decision or split d prop small flyer.

Ok so i love borg here after watching tape. Borg has no standup so if he cant get you down hes screwed as we saw with scoggins but smolka's td defence is terrible. I have a good handle on smolka as i bet him against richie vac (get out of jail card) and holohan but i just watched tape on him to reaffirm.

Smolka makes so many mistakes. Borg is the best grappler he has ever faced and he will not get away with what he does. He has no td defence, goes for stupid throws that expose his back, gives his back up to get back up and i think he has a long neck(!) as he nearly gets choked every fight. Christ Cariaso and seery were close to choking him. He said if he had known moreno was a grappler he wouldnt have gone for the outside single but he nearly gets choked every fight. He gives his back up to get back to his feet but if he does that against borg he will be controlled for the duration of the round.

If smolka can keep this standing he will win but simply put he will be taken down. Being a lanky fucker does not help his tdd either. He is good at getting up hes never been held down for more than a minute but as i said he gives up his back and takes all sorts of risks to get back up. Borg will keep him down and if he cant take him back down. Borg at evens is a great bet. He is easily the best grappler smolka has faced.

Yea. Whatever. Same shit different day. Guys in here saying same stuff but just a different day.

Don't get too pissed off this time if your -240 value play loses.

And no bitching about a close decision

Smolka leaves his neck way out there all the time. Borg's transitions are top notch, he will exploit Smolka's recklessness in scrambles. I'm big on Borg, he's my favorite bet of the card. I plan on stabbing his sub line too.

I was on him vs dodson and advocated so on here. I have bet lineker here for value as i think the lines off but i do expect tj to win a dec.

Honestly. Do you write this stuff to convince yourself. And how do u feel when u write this stuff and u end up being wrong? Do u self analyze at all after? U really sound like some college football tout. U completely discount Lineker like he's a bum. Do u think it's wise to think this way? Especially when u are dealing with such a favorite

No offense but if "yea. whatever." is your only rebuttal or counter analysis to offer then you probably shouldn't be getting all attitude-y to someone actually offering a technical BD. You're better than that man

I got into it with many in here before the Dodson fight because people were saying Lineker was a 1 dimensional bum. Well guess what, history repeats itself.

Sure TJ is probably better than Dodson. But the same things that troubled Dodson IMO could trouble TJ.

I mean office brown acts as if Lineker is gonna walk into the cage and trip over his own feet and knock himself out

I'm interested if and how Borg's striking has evolved at JacksonWink. From what I remember Smolka's stand up isn't great either and if Borg picks up solid fundamental's he could have the advantage standing.

It's been beaten to death. The fact is this is the same things being said before the Dodson fight. Saying its a different fight is no rebuttal. If u can't learn from mistakes. Then you will keep making them.

I'm not even betting Lineker big. But do u really think calling Lineker a bum is helping the community here? And especially when u are dealing with a 2.5 to 1 favorite? Man I'm just trying to get some of the dudes that are touting this favorite to chill a bit. But it's like their minds are made up that TJ is Elite and Lineker is a bum

The last thing on Officer Browns mind if TJ loses will be that I said whatever in a post. I actually like him but I honestly think he's going too far here.

But hey, sorry I offended.

I see you consistently acting like the Dodson fight will somehow mirror this one. If you think Dillashaw is just going to back himself straight into the fence and do nothing but launch counter left hands you do not have a good read on this fight. Thus why saying it is a different fight is, in fact, a good rebuttal
