Gonna be the first event to be in 4K it seems. I work for DirecTV and they have 4K as an option for it. Pricing hasn't been announced yet, but I'd guess it will be $5-10 more than HD. If I had a 4K TV I'd spring for the extra to see how it is. Seems like it will be just a one time thing since 199 and 201 just have HD and SD options.

Finally, I want to see the blood in 4k.

Only peasents watch shit in 1080p...or play games on 1080p.

Does anybody here on Sherdog have a 4K TV?

4k? that is just their prediction for how many buys it will get

4K is just a gimmick, it's like the whole 3D thing.

Sure would be nice if every cable provider could broadcast in 4K. Seems pretty pointless to me if DirecTV is the only provider that can offer it

Nah, it's gonna catch on, it'll just take a while. 1080p is perfectly fine, so there's no rush - and the computing power required to output 4K is stupidly prohibitive at this point. In 5 years it'll be all 4K though.

To broadcast in 4K, they need a 4K source from the event promoter (the UFC). I doubt the UFC is going to give that 4K stream only to DirecTV and not to everyone else as well.

I don't know if it's just a DirecTV thing. From what I understand DirecTV does about half of PPV buys though. They cater a lot to sports fans.

What I'm saying is, I havent heard that Time Warner, AT&T, Google Fiber, Comcast broadcast in 4K. DirecTV is the first time Ive heard a provider offering 4K

Dude 4k is already taking over....Seriously 2 years Max and everybody should be 4king....Doesn't require that much computer power either.

1080p is not fine, at all....If you have a 50 inch plus tv and sit kind of close, 1080p sucks.

A bazillion bucks say they bring in a Pantom Cam for the night...
