First round Lesnar looked scary as hell. Take downs were on point and his ground and pound was solid as fuck!

Second round I thought he gassed because not much happened, but to his credit he stood with Mark fucking Hunt for a whole round using his reach very effectively which he hasn't done in the past. (well aware the first GIF was from the first round but it was a nice leg kick to be honest)

Third round he looked good as well and wasn't as gassed as I thought. Once again landed very tight and hard ground and pound. (reminded me of the Mir fight) Also timed some very nice take downs!

Overall I thought he did pretty damn good for someone who hasn't competed for 5 years. (I don't know how anyone can call this lay and pray?) He also took some decent shots from Hunt as well, but obviously still has some work to do with his boxing. That being said, the heavyweight division is all over the place so it isn't out of the realm of possibility for him to challenge for that belt one day, though Cain, Junior, Ecoreem, and Stipe are all hard match ups for him at the end of the day.

his defense is much better even though he was timid

It was a good test for him. But styles make fights and they picked the perfect style for him. He still has 0 chances against Cain, .Overeem, JDS, Miocic, Werdum and I may be a minority, but I think Nelson beats him 9 out of 10.

it was interesting how the colour of brock's fleshy bulk changed as the fight went on

first he became red then he took on some kind of sickly shade of purple by the end

he did look good though

I figured that Brock would look good the first few minutes then gas and then Hunt gets the tko.

But Brock was very impressive for someone who hasn't had a fight in a long time and has been focusing on other things (WWE). You have to give him credit for winning fairly easily against a tough opponent.

As for Hunt, not sure why he didn't let his hands go. Especially in round 2 when nothing really happened. Hunt was going to get taken down anyway so go ahead and throw your stuff. Bad performance by Hunt. He did virtually nothing and I like Hunt.

I think Lesnar laid off the pedal in the second because he didn't want an experienced striker like Hunt to time him on the way in. Then he realized Hunt was actually rocked instead of playing possum so he started laying in again. In general, I'm surprised as a co-main this wasn't a five rounder as this was supposed to be the fight with a guaranteed stoppage. That's more likely due to the fact that Cormier stayed on the card and there were some contractual obligations there. Regardless, Hunt and Lesnar both looked winded so maybe it's better that they kept the fight shorter.

Brock's standup didn't show much improvement

Yet somehow he almost landed as many strikes as Hunt did on the feet. And actually landed about the same % of his strikes on the feet as Hunt did.

Yea theres not much that made me think he could recapture the belt but he showed some impressive composure while gassed in round 2 and im surprised how well his cardio held up in the end.

I could see him beating JDS or Stipe in a 3 round fight if he can hit his take downs. The other guys not much chance.

He's got a chance against all of those guys, especially Overeem.

But yes, all of those fighters could give him trouble. But Lesnar's a monster. He proved it tonite against a legend and with 5 years of ring rust.

If Overeem beats Stipe I wouldn't be surprised if Lesnar got an immediate title shot.

His hands are like the average heavies arms

I like Brock. I never got on that bandwagon of hate. But with that said I thought Hunt was going to win this fight. Between the long layoff and Hunt being active and his devastating power, I just figured it was going to be a tough night for him.

It wasn't a pretty fight by any stretch of the imagination but Brock did what he needed to do to win. Good on him I'd like to see him fight again, and definitely looking forward to Hunt fighting again.

The fact that he handily won round one was a victory in itself. I really didn't think he had it in him tbh.

Brock was amazing. He out struck a kickboxer on the feet, out landed him, Hunt was tentative and scared to strike.. Brock is such a bad ass. and obviously beat the snot out of Hunt on the ground. amazing performance, Brock is back!!

He said he was a white boy post-fight while looking pretty much like a lobster.
