Current estimates have UFC 197, the April 23 show headlined by Jon Jones vs. Ovince Saint Preux, doing in the 375,000 to 450,000 buy range on pay-per-view, based on ranges from different industry sources.

UFC rarely releases pay-per-view numbers.

The number tells a few stories. The key is while Jones is probably still the UFC's third-biggest drawing card behind Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey, he needs an opponent to do big numbers.

Honestly, 375,000 to 450,000 against OSP in today's PPV climate isn't bad at all. Which means it probably would have been much higher against a name like Cormier. Jones is definitely a star.

Not bad.

If it was Cormier I think it hits 800,000-900.000.

Absolutely, had Jones fought Cormier this card would've done quite a few more buys.
I talked to a bunch of family members of mine that watch most of the cards and they said they weren't going to watch because OSP was mostly a gimme fight for JBJ and they were mostly right.

On that basis Id like to change my 198 estimate to 250k :D

I dont actually think Cormier would have added that much to the numbers. The interest was Jones return, not who he was fighting.

Of course, Jones return and in fact the whole card was completely overshadowed by Conor's "Retirement"

Conor probably knocked 200k off the numbers himself. .

not bad considering the change in main event headliner.

Pretty good considering Mighty Mouse probably massacres every card he's on

Under 400K is bad for Jones. He get the third most mainstream press after Conor and Rousey. UFC really needs to get GSP back. And Chael when his suspension is over for Chael vs Anderson 3. And Chael vs Belfort. Not enough stars in the UFC to sell PPV. The last UFC with Werdum will be lucky to break 300K.

Meltz is correct
It is Conor & RR, then a huge drop off to Jones then everybody else (as far as PPV draws)

Not bad considering a lot of people skipped the card because of MM.

That is not really good PPV numbers for the LHW GOAT.
I wonder if his personal life played a part in the lack of interest.

Yeah. Its all his fault lol. Come on man.

It's not his fault at all, I think DJ is legit, but people just don't seem to be interested in him. Whether it's PPV buys or people flat out walking out of his fights like against Bagautinov

I called that sh*t. I posted "just under 500,000" on the poll survey thread.

About the same as he did with Gus.

Which isn't good.

They really need to give Jones a good co main event like they do with most other PPVs.

Meh, I thought Jones alone could pull 500k no matter who his opponent is.

he has a max of 3 opponents left
Cormier, Rumble and if Gus somehow makes it to another title fight
